Quote from: muwarrior69 on February 09, 2026, 09:28:11 AMSo who could Marquette hire as a GM? Are there guys out there that were poor coaches but stellar recruiters?

Coaches are one option. Plenty of programs have gone with recruiting experts in those spots. Brian Snow of 247, Alex Kline.

Personally, I'd like a transfer expert. Someone like Matthew Winick, who annually analyzes every incoming D1 transfer (well over 1,000 transfers last year) to determine how the individual player fits the coach's system. Shaka has a history for outside the box hires and that would fit. That job would be more one of analytics and accountant than coaching.

Past that, I think they'd be wise to consider someone like Evan Miyakawa or Nick Canova (CBB Analytics founder).

I think it was Louisville that set the bar for hosting recruits. And, in that case, it was an assistant coach (Andre McGee) that did the dirty work.

And Rick Pitino swears he knew absolutely nothing about it.

he probably did not. He was way too busy obsessing about his quick release time while playing box and one at Porcinis.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

That would be something.....a school that doesn't take transfers hires a transfer "expert ".
