Dominic James was by far the best perimeter defender of the Amigos. Not remotely close, IMO.

Yes, Jerel got the Big East DPOY award, but that's because he was good at gambling on steals. It's a reason why DPOY awards often don't go to the best defenders but the guys with the best defensive counting stats. For instance, Oso was a better defender than Kalkbrenner, but didn't post the numbers Kalk did so didn't get the same credit.

McNeal was a fine defender, but not nearly as good compared to the lockdown ability of James.

Dominic James, Jimmy Butler, Stevie Mitchell, Oso Ighodaro, and Vander Blue would be my list of the last 20 years. Honorable Mention to Sacar Anim, who was a very good defender but didn't get the recognition due to Wojo's overall weak defense and a lack of defensive counting stats (largely system based).

Michael Wilson, Tony Miller, DJ are the first 3 that come to mind.

Stevie certainly in the conversation

I cannot believe that no one mentioned Ramsey.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.
