As more details and more video becomes available, this just gets more and more disgusting.

But, as y'all discuss this with others, please try not to use the word "unbelievable."

It is absolutely believable to anybody who has been paying even the slightest bit of attention the last 10 years. When the most powerful person in America repeatedly tells you who he is and what he is in favor of, believe it.

You nailed it with the bolded! The only very consistently "honest" part of him is that he did exactly what he said he would do. Anyone saying "Gee...I just didn't think that...when I voted for him' didn't think at all.

For the side that keeps screaming #lies and #fake news, altering arrest videos to make them look more dramatic is pretty ironic.

forgetful

Serious question for those that are familiar with the law. At this point, with all the evidence clearly contradicting government spokespeople. To the point that what the government officials are saying is clearly a lie that actually puts more lives at risk.

Do they have any legal culpability for all of them in obstruction of justice, or worse.

I'm not a gun owner, but I've always read "trigger discipline" is important. Which, I believe, means don't put your finger on a trigger unless you intend to fire.

I noticed that ICE agent who fired the first few shots (since multiple agents did fire), immediately puts his finger on the trigger after his weapon from the holster.

From the video angle, it's also conceivable he was looking directly at the other officer removing the victim's weapon.

The officer waited until the victim's weapon was removed to start shooting.

Lastly, as per DHS, the shooting officer has 8? Years experience. Seems weird that he'd have so little weapon discipline then.

I hope the focus here can be the actual shooting and not stray too far into the forbidden topic so that it gets locked. I think the Noem and Bovino responses to this shooting - essentially fabricating a justification that is totally at odds with the video evidence - are doing continuing damage to ICE's claim of legitimacy. I believe (at least I hope) that the powers that be are getting more and more uncomfortable with these headlines and their dominance of the news for days on end. The two of them may find themselves reassigned at some point in time if there are additional such incidents.

Nice post Jesmu. I am not a gun owner either, but know quite a few, living in a rural area. I refuse to group them together and condemn them all as dangerous people. There are many responsible ones are adamant about safety rules, the use of firearms, etc. and rip into the ones who are irresponsible. E.g., our builder's ethos regarding deer hunting is that you must drop the deer with one shot. And if you do not have that shot clearly? "You DON'T shoot".

I realize that my using a deer hunting analogy sounds really inappropriate here, but my point is I think that with humans as the potential targets, there should be EXTREMELY strict rules, procedures, before firing the weapon. With tasers, pepper spray, and in this case overwhelming physical force (7 agents) as alternatives, only the perverted minds of people like Noem and Orange Jesus will justify the murder.

Even if they had legal culpability, who's going to prosecute?

Alex Pretti's final conscious act was one of kindness, catching and attempting to protect another who was being bullied and abused.  He was executed by cowards and bullies for that act of kindness.

And now, cowards and bullies are doubling down on their lies.

Murder has no statute of limitations in federal or state court, nor does deprivation of rights under color of law when a death is involved.
Contrary to our worst fears, this administration won't always be in power.

And as we've seen over and over, our fellow citizens who serve on trial and grand juries see through this DOJ's lies.
