Didn't Scoop have a spell checker in the past? I guess the mods though it was cheaper to pay Jay Bee to be our spelling/grammar police. He snagged me more than once. The Mods better give Jay Bee a raise as he is doing a bang up job.

There was a spell check feature, but now I *think* every modern browser has spell check included when typing into forms.  At least for me I get a red squiggly under misspelled words...you should too.

Classic. Why don't you pay attention to his corrections and potentially improve, instead of attacking others for your spelling deficiencies.

...but I thought it auto corrected as well, not just a squiggly. Not to make excuses but my typing skills are neither hear or their. ;D

Saw this thread title and I thought ICE murdered some 65+ folks.

Every time I see a reply, I assume Ben or Chase are in trouble (off of the court).

The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) classifies those 50 or older as seniors!

Does anybody under 50 years old play pickleball?

Quote from: Vander Blue Man Group on January 25, 2026, 07:47:42 AMPhillips is not "to" skinny and could be a guy to take a leap next season. We need shooting and he'll be one of our better options to provide it as of now.

I'd expect Johnston to RS and would be surprised if Phillips did.

DO is also not skinny.

Kevin Durant is also "to" skinny.

Quote from: BCHoopster on January 25, 2026, 05:40:26 PMThen recruit kids that can shoot!

Agreed. Shaka doesn't seem to recruit shooters. Its also true that the players shoot worse at Marquette than when they played in high school. It seems that Shaka doesn't emphasize shooting or free throws. We've lost a lot of games because of poor free throw shooting.

Shooter McGavin

Don't know if it has been brought up here but there was a recent video of Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley talking with a reporter about the type of basketball player they recruit.  First and foremost were players who could put the ball in the basket with defensive instincts and ability second.  Offensive ability was a much higher priority for both. And they laughed at any other thought on the matter.

Kam
Joplin
Parhams and Owens were prodigious scorers
Walker

Shaka has referenced your point in recent interviews.

Finally, Wojo had epic shooters.

Tre Norman's high school stats would shock a lot of people.

Unless he was shooting 50% from three... his stats won't shock anyone. Average high schoolers arn't particularly good basketball players.

Kam was a Wojo recruit. Understood that Shaka had to get him to reaffirm his commitment, but let's not pretend Shaka went out and targeted him. Had Kam not previously committed, there's pretty much zero chance he winds up at Marquette.

Jop wasn't a shooter. He was above average his sophomore season coming off the bench. His shooting his last two years as a starter was thoroughly average.

Walker has played zero college basketball games.

So, your examples of "shooters" recruiting by Shaka include a guy recruited by Wojo, an average shooter and a total unknown.
Not exactly beating the charge.

Would not call 23.3 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 4.3 APG, and 2.0 SPG at Peach Jam an "average high schooler" but sure, whatever you say.

I knew these stats. And they are from the PIT. Kinda different than "Peach Jam".

And those stats shouldn't surprise people.
