Just brutal the last few years

David Joplin went from 40% to 36% to 32% from 3

Kam Jones went from 40% to 31% from 3

Ben Gold from 37% to 24% from 3

Chase Ross from 37% to 25% from 3

I'm not going to look up the 2P% stats but Kam and Chase certainly got worse around the rim as well.

What gives? Extra pressure of being the senior leader? The TyKo effect?
Kolek was a wizard and made all 4 of the above better, got them all great looks and much easier buckets.

Either way, the above is extremely disheartening, and a major part of why Marquette had an awful 2025 and current season.

PS- Tyler ain't walking back thru that door.
So, Coach Shaka, imo it might be time to take a deeper look into the offensive philosophy and results the offensive guru on staff brings to the table

Chase, Ben, and Sean have been absolutely ravaged by injuries during their time at MU. I can't remember a cohort with such rotten luck.

Last year was just fatigue, injuries, and depth issues.

Didn't Chase injure his shoulder at some point in his career? Was that last year? Would be interested to see his shooting percentages before and after that injury if it was last year.

Think that was his soph year

Not injury related

Kam and Jop were fine last season
Ben and Chase are fine this season

Health wise that is...

Kolek lead and commanded on court whereas last year we replaced a true point by sliding Kam in at the 1. He played very well all things considered, but his shooting took a hit not being able to play off ball and shoot in more of a rhythm like he was used to for 3 years. They were gassed as conference play went on.

Mechanically Ben's shot is just bad. Way too flat. Kind of makes sense that his shooting % would drop based on that alone.

This year the talent and leadership is down and obviously the team is struggling. James is awesome...as a frosh he's still finding his way to be a leader and facilitator. Seems more scoring-minded out of necessity. Ross does not have any PG instincts and has mostly been the other lead guard by default. He's been tasked with too much and forcing the issue. They're playing tighter and there isn't much flow. Shots always seem to fall more when the team is in rhythm and winning.
