Today, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) is leading a letter with Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) to Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman to encourage the conference to add Saint Louis University (SLU) and the University of Dayton (UD) to the Big East.

Currently, every BE team receives 1/11th of the BE's revenues.

Adding Dayton and SLU means a 1/13th share.

Will a 1/13th share of league revenues to each school be more or less money than the current 1/11th share for each school?

If larger, then approve. If less, then deny.

(Going from 1/10th to 1/11th with Uconn meant more money. So, that was approved.)

mileskishnish72

Even if it's more money - NO!

Oh, someone is writing a letter you say?  Surely that'll get filed directly in Val's trash.  Right where it belongs.

Damn! You beat me to it.

How did Minnesota's 2 senators miss the chance to tell Val we should take in St. Thomas?

Lol. Hard pass. There are probably a hundred different reasons why those two schools won't be added.

Dayton hasn't even won their conference tournament in over 22 seasons. Maybe the senators should write a letter to the A10 commissioner asking for a free championship instead.

willie warrior

Not Dayton. They own MU, so there would be 2 more losses each year for MU.

I think Dayton would be a fine add. SLU has no business in this league.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

High probability Dayton gets in down the road.

Honestly, I could see Dayton to the BE, but more likely MU goes to the B12 in a basketball expansion.

Ah yes, the good Senator from Missouri who would impose strict requirements that all players meet his definition of "American." Go clean up Missouri's meth oeoblem, Senator

Must be a bit of escapism for some stressed AF politicians.

Would def be play with Dayton, SLU, VCU joining up. If UConn leaves I'd make a play for Notre Dame were I the commish

Make a play for ND now.

wadesworld

Should've added Gonzaga. Suppose you can still revisit that, but will have to pay the new Pac 12 more to get them.

The moment you're in a conference with Dayton is the moment Buzz proves to have been correct.

Ackerman should have paid a visit to South Bend the day after ND was snubbed from the CFP. That was the moment. Now it looks like the fences have been mended with the ACC. Blown opportunity.

How do you know calls were not made? You do not. My guess is ND has zero interest in the BE. They need to be able to schedule football games. That's why they are in the ACC. They were having enormous difficulty scheduling football games as an independent.

technically ND football is still an independent with an 'agreement' to play ACC schools. Didn't ND get an 'agreement' with the college football playoff committee that if they are ranked at least top 12,  they are in? (or, something like that) I do wish MU played them regularly. I guess those days are long gone. ND was always my most hated rival now replaced by RED.

Screw No Dick and their longstanding belief that they are entitled. That unfair agreement with CFB Committee is another example of entitlement. So unfair. Why haven't other schools been given that butt boy arrangement?
