With just how thoroughly this past year has exposed the flaws of RGV, I think it's relatively safe to say that we can all expect Shaka to utilize the transfer portal this offseason. No one in the program can deny that an immediate change is needed. But just as I'm certain about portal use being inevitable, I also firmly doubt Shaka will 100% discard the RGV philosophy, no matter how much some may want him to. The most likely outcome in my mind is that he'll simply modify it in some way. So the question has to be asked: what will the future of Shaka's culture look like? And more specifically, what's the best way for him to balance portal use with a priority on relationships & growth?

Unless Shaka figures something out, I imagine the most significant consequence to allowing incoming transfers is that future players will not feel as bound by the 'loyalty agreement' which has defined Shaka's culture these past couple of years. It seems to me that the best case scenario for him would be to take a page out of Matt Painter's book and do things similarly to Purdue. I don't know how realistic that is, but in any case, I'm interested to hear what others on here want or expect to see going forward.

Long relationships doesn't equate to better ones.

Also the on court nature of relationships matter most.

He has to blow up half of this roster. Need to be able to make layups.

Hamilton, Owens, Jones, and Norman arn't worthy of true minutes, just gotta be honest about it.

Recruits should not expect guaranteed minutes just because they signed an LOI. Playing time has to be earned. Right now the problem is Shaka has a roster full of guys who struggle to be even average players at this level. If they need to be replaced by better transfers or more talented recruits then so be it.

The goal should be building the best roster possible with the resources available. That is just reality in today's landscape.

Winning and competing with the best is what builds culture. Losing does not. It is hard to imagine this season has been very enjoyable for the team given how bad things have been. The only thing that probably softens the blow is being a limited contributor while still making more than your on court value.

Excellent point.
