Just watched WI close out MN in a tight game with a 3 at the buzzer. Exciting basketball.

I miss that.

Quote from: BLWarrior91 on Today at 07:52:42 PMDid anyone actually subscribe to Peacock to be able to see this debacle?  Last year I would've found a way to watch.  This year I simply don't care and I'm sure that many feel the same way.  Sad.

Went out to dinner with a DePaul buddy instead of watching it. I wanted to find out what it was like to have one's alma mater be this bad in hoops, and who better to ask than a DePaul grad.

I forgot there was even a game tonight. Shows my lack of interest or my age or both.

Quote from: Viper on Today at 07:53:59 PMmy Dad is an alum. I was 9 in '74 watching the title game on tv with him when we played SkyWalker David Thompson & NC State. Hooked ever since. I'm beyond frustrated...embarrassed for our great program, and this includes the Dukiet years in the '80's.

This needs to change.  And pronto Viper.  MU fans are extremely upset and rightly so.  Again, if we were remotely competitive, and close to an NIT team, I think we could deal with it better.  This is entirely different.  I'm a big Shaka guy but we must get that immediate hard pivot once this debacle of a season is over.  If he refuses to do so it's going to get indescribably ugly IMHO.

MuggsyB

I will say this: it's on our players, specifically our returning guys, to find a way to play with far more pride and grit.  We haven't seen it.  This is one of the most bizarre performances I can remember from our so called best player and Sr. leader.  And it began to unravel when he was abused on a back door to start the 2H.  That cannot happen and we've seen it time and time again.  Play with sone fire and pride or just give give Scoopers your pay-check.

How about running some plays and get the young ones involved and improving

We don't have an offense.

Dry January is no more.

He is going to the game on Friday and thinks DePaul should win. He said he hasn't thought that since the Richardson/Simmons days.

Next year's prospective: "The good news is that MU returns 82% of their minutes from 2025-26 and 70% of their scoring. The bad news is that the returning players wouldn't start for UW-Parkside."

With the exception of NJ, I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of the players eligible to return were buzz-cut or paid-out to transfer elsewhere. They aren't transferring upward.

Quote from: MarquetteMike1977 on Today at 08:01:29 PMExactly! My circumstances are similar. Agree We have already lost 5 games by 20 POINTS OR MORE this year!! Dukiet's games were closer! This is the worst Marquette team I have seen since the 1960s!!!!!!

Marquette has already lost 5 games by 20 points or more this year and is headed for more.

Dukiet in 3 years averaged only 2 losses by more than 20 points a year.

I think our 3 frosh are all good enough to be solid contributors as Sophs.  But having no bigs makes things inordinately difficult.

The one shining light is that none of our players can get poached outside of Nigel. No one will want them.

All but 1 of those happened in Dukiets 2nd year. That year was the worst year since 1964-65.
One could easily argue this is the worst Marquette team since 1964-65 maybe will end up worse than that. This is uncharacteristic of Marquette's proud basketball tradition

Shaka has to blow this mess up at the end of the year and get some really good transfers or he'l be gone.  This is the mother of all dumpster fires.  I've put the rest f my season tickets up for sale.

Cartwright! Cartwright!

Quote from: MuggsyB on Today at 07:19:14 PMI don't get Ross at all this half.  Zero tenacity or aggression.  Fking dumbfounding.

Are we still measuring deflections? Maybe it has been replaced with watching opponents make uncontested layups.

Agree! Gard Show is on! All Gard is talking about is Winning! What Winning feels like what Winning smells like what Winning tastes like!
The Shaka show seems to talk about relationships Winning does not matter as much as a show topic comparatively.

Apparently counting missed layups is new thing.
