What do we know?

Is it conceivable he'll start drilling threes again?  Are there any psychological solutions?

Ty.

The less I see of the great kiwi the better at this point. I've moved on.

He's still our best interior defender.

This is the first I have heard about any injury, but if true....I really think this post is inappropriate in this thread.

Ankle injury in Xavier game. Had to go to locker room, ankle taped. Nova game he could barely run, started to limp and basically sat after that, only played 13 minutes.

Sprained his ankle vs Xavier and was clearly laboring on it yesterday.

Parham & Gold were the best players in Xavier win, and he played with ankle injury for part of the game.

We should hang a banner for his perseverance.

MU82

MU's best interior defender by 100 miles. Not having him at full strength for 30+ minutes hurt us badly vs. Nova.

He shot 37% from distance last season.

Correct, but those who don't know ball probably think that is a bad stat.

Retiring the entire region seems like a good idea  >:(

What is his current percentage for 25-26 season?  Single-Digit?

He's shooting .238 from 3, which is horrendous. He was doing okayish through the first nine games (.333), but he is at .094 (3/32) the last eight games. That is obviously atrocious.

And yet ...

Gold is still by far the team's best interior defender. And on offense, he had been doing a better job of driving and cutting to the basket before he got hurt.

Call it an indictment of the strength of our roster if you'd like - that would be valid - but we need to have Ben on the court to win games.

In Big east play hes shooting 1-23 from 3's. Against the P5 + Big east hes shooting hes 9-49. Had a big jump against Maryland where he went 4-10.

Without looking it up, probably worse then Derrick Wilson.

Edit: Derrick went 9-39 in his senior year. So probably worse than Derrick.

And yet ... this extremely flawed version of Marquette basketball needs him on the court to win because he is the only interior defender capable of defending the interior.

Im very glad that he had a "stellar" game against Xavier to push us to 6-10. We should hang a banner.

This is undoubtedly true, but does it really make a difference if we finish 2-18 or 4-16 in the Big East?  At this point our whole season is the Big East tournament.  What happens between now and then doesn't matter a whole bunch.  Let Gold sit until he's at least 90% and get the other guys experience and see if you have anything.

Give Josh more run - in limited sample he has the best rebound and block numbers on the team - let's see what he does with a larger sample size.

Your hate for Gold is interesting, especially when there are actual bad players on this team.

If he could make a damn shot he'd be having a really good year. Hes scoring inside more than ever. Playing defense better than ever. Rebounding better than ever. Just can't buy one from the outside.
