Askew off the bench for 13 second half points was the difference.

That's what happens when a well coached team utilizes the portal and it actually works.

Nova has four portal guys plus a top 40 freshman recruit starting, and Askew is the veteran who was a top 30 recruit who signed with Kentucky out of high school, as the sixth man.

Far as game, MU got three happy in second, but only made 3 of 13, including three airballs in final three minutes.  Yes, all three shot attempts were airballs, two by Ross, one by Phillips. Almost impossible.

Up Nigel James NIL for next year.

Does Shaka even have any idea what to do in the last 90 seconds of a game?!?! Those last two possessions were horrible. The game ended with two TOs in his pocket right? WTF didn't we use one on that second to last posession where the guys were clearly out of control. We could very easily be 10-7 with at least a whisper of the bubble if we had shown any sort of competence late.

Shaka - nice guy - but terrible end of game coach.

Does he have a COVID year? I thought those players were all gone.

I mean you had to find a way to get nigel the ball there - screens, cut, whatever it took - there was time - he was going to draw defenders and then have Royce or Ross or Phillips in the corner for an open look - but a hand off so ross can take a 34ft prayer? WTAF!?!?

The ending is another frustrating, yet expected outcome.

The only positive in this game is that this has officially become Nigel's team.

If we are lucky enough to be in another late game situation like this, just give it to Nigel and get out of his way and what happens, happens.  Chase is not a closer.

Losing Zaide Lowery hurt this team.  Really unfortunate that things went sour with Zaide.  I still believe he's a higher upside guy than Chase, and think he will have a nice year wherever he lands next season.

Parham put up 17 and got to the line.  He's absolutely a piece for next season.  Outrebounded them.  Only turned the ball over 9 times.  After Nova's hot start the defense improved. 

None of this is worth getting upset over at this point and James wasn't the only positive.

Villanova knew that MU had to shoot the 3.  Good defensive concepts.  After NJ lobbed it into Parham, he floated down the sideline.  His defender was high side with a hand up on the passing lane.  Mendoza could not have gotten a pass to him there, let alone Royce.  A ton of co gestion around Royce.  He could have turned and jacked it up.  The only person still moving aggressively was Chase.  That is where Royce's eyes went.  Not my first choice either, but once NJ didn't follow his pass with a hard cut at Parham for a hand off, there wasn't going to be a good look.

Proud of the fight we showed and encouraged that Nigel and Royce led the way. Frustrating end of game play but we were deserving of a W today and that's a far cry from where we were a month ago.

Not sure why Tre got so much clock late, would've liked to see Phillips or Damarius take those minutes, but definitely seeing progress from this team.

I thought it was the 2019-2020 season that was granted an extra year.  How do you get an extra year playing 34 games in 2020-2021?

Nigel is a stud - Royce and Adrien can be BE players. Need a 5 and a switch from the portal. If Shaka doesn't commit to getting them from the portal at the end of the season (and that means he needs to find a way to make room for one more) let him go. The path for next season is crystal clear at this point.

Take out of Caedin and Tre's sacks.

True - but he won't get this team into the tourney - next year with the right pieces he could showcase on a team that people actually watch - that's what will get him to the association.

They've looked better since he left. What are u talking about he was bad and didn't give a full effort
