Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on Today at 03:06:11 PMThe program has become an embarrassment overnight. How does that happen?

Actually unbelievable.
After four great years Shaka has set this program back who knows how long with this abysmal roster construction. Just so many misses on the recruiting trail :it's crazy: this team will be near the bottom of the conference at least 2 years in a row with this crap

Big Papi

You can't blame the players, the experience, the lack of growth, the lack of execution.

This is all on Shaka.

The Shaka RGV marketing needs to go away.

BM1090

8 seconds left. Nigel hands off to Ross. He steps into it like he's going to shoot the three. Dribbles instead. Goes nowhere. Have to shoot the ball.

They looked better today. The team isn't as bad as some of you are making them out to be. But they aren't good either.

BM1090

And I thought Wades was hyperbolic. Some of these comments are out of control

Quote from: willie warrior on Today at 03:03:59 PMTremendous choke job by Warriors. To a team loaded with transfers. Surely Reeker will have some astute smart ass comment about Porter Moser outcoaching Shaka.
Gold looks tremendously improved as a senior. Not. Give the keys to James. Far superior to  Jones. Gold absolutely torched on defense.
What a mess.Shaka now playing with all his guys. 5 years to judge? Hmmmm....Is there a gap? What is Reeker pontificating about the widening gap?
plenty on Scoop mock the portal...sometimes justifiably so, other times not...but this RGV team is just awful aside from James. He's the deal!

Quote from: BCHoopster on Today at 03:08:05 PMGold and Caedin bring nothing to the table, hard to win when they do nothing, great game by Nigel, looks like Owens is down for the count.  Why not play Phillips in the second half when this team at times can not score. Last play was an abomination, two times now

Yes, the starting big men Hamilton and Gold scored 3 points.  Gold 1 for 7, Hamilton 0 for 4.  Gold had 7 rebounds but two were slaps backs.  Gold beaten on defense by Davis in second half was not good.  Tough to win games when your starters, especially NBA bound Ben play like that. Parham was very good today.

Shaka cut rotation.  No Clark or Owens.  When Jones returns, I presume Norman is the next with very minimal minutes.  Phillips got three minutes ahead of the much more heralded recruit Owens.  See how this continues as season goes with Owens.  No way he will be happy in current situation.

MU 2 for 11 from three in second half, same theme in Shaka offense.  Very bad loss.  Oklahoma, like MU has not beaten anyone and is probably a bottom feeder in SEC.  The Wisconsin and Purdue games might be unbearable, then BE play.

Last 17 seconds...

Another TOTAL train wreck.  My God !
Can Shaka coach a late game situation?

No ball movement. No play run.  Dribbling and standing... then ( again ) he ends game w / a time out as it happens directly in front of him !

What the actual F ? >:(

The thing is we are losing to teams that are not very good.  Our competition is only going to get tougher.

I don't know if I can stomach watching us against Purdue and Wisconsin.

Quote from: panda on Today at 03:10:25 PMShaka smart ruined kam jones, David Joplin, Stevie Mitchell and chase Ross' senior years because he thought Caedin Hamilton is better than any big man in the portal the last two years.

I would also argue he did this to Tyler and Oso by refusing to find a replacement for OMax and just hoping Ben and Chase could be their whole bench

the trend last season pointed to this. Unfortunately, this season is unlikely a one-off.

As good a game as James had (and I see him as a building block for the program), the ball should have been in Chase's hands from the beginning and drawn up for just what Tarik Turner called for - Chase going left.

I get it. It's tough to stomach. We're losing to average teams. We could have pulled out the last three losses. We didn't. That sucks. It's killed our resume. Barring huge wins in the next few weeks our at large chances are shot.

We aren't a meaningfully different team if we pull out Dayton and Oklahoma, yet the vibes and attitude surrounding the whole team would be way better.

I expect them to be solid in BE play. That won't be enough to salvage the season because of the hole they've dug themselves into. But they're a lot closer to figuring it out than they were two weeks ago.

The one saving grace for the season might be that the BE is not very good this year.

Oklahoma will be near the bottom of the SEC. MU will be 0-6 in significant non con games. The criticism is valid

Its been a long time since I've written off MU having a chance to make the Big Dance in November.

Never said the criticism isn't valid. I said you're all being dramatic/hyperbolic.

Why is anyone on this board talking about at-large chances?? Turn your brains on. This season has been toast since the Maryland loss to anyone who's watched basketball in their lives.

We're 0-4. Do you think we'll beat Purdue and Bucky? Or are you saying Oklahoma will not be a Big 12 bottom feeder?

Quote from: ATL MU Warrior on Today at 03:04:32 PMI'm trying to be patient with this team, but c'mon with this coaching staff.  That ball needs to be inbounded to Chase and he needs to control it the entire time, whether that results in him shooting or not.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Didn't work out well at the end versus Dayton.

Why do I have to be saying either of those things? Read my posts.

But to answer your questions I think Oklahoma will be a middle of the pack SEC team. And I don't think they'll beat Purdue or Wisconsin.

Quote from: Billy Hoyle on Today at 03:05:28 PMBy definition that was a shot. I think
That was a shot in the sense Chase was probably thinking, "Can't have a repeat of Dayton, I have to throw it up in the direction of the rim at least."

You're literally just agreeing with me. This team isn't making the tournament.

Do any of you actually read what you're  responding to?

It is very hard to see where Gold has improved offensively during his time at MU. He has no inside game, which is a crime for a guy that size. He rushes his 3 pt shot and tries to shoot like Del Curry. That's been a big mistake and his 3pt % is the proof. Gold has improved on D and rebounds better but he's a liability on offense.
