Quote from: We R Final Four on Today at 12:24:03 PMYou can go to a practice/scrimmage in July and then again in October. You can get autographs, pictures, high fives, talk with the players, etc. very accessible.

You are 100% correct. I would venture to say every Big east team has exhibitions/scrimmages for fans to attend.

What I am advocating for is the extra 1-2 events that Creighton and SJU and that MUBB used to do - come back. For the sake of fan engagement and fanbase retention/growth.

Quote from: MUbiz on Today at 11:29:51 AMI have voiced my opinion many times over the years to Mike B and other MU athletic higher ups. I have felt my suggestions have fallen on deaf ears. By no means am I one of MUBBs top boosters- but over the last 18 years as a STH, I have given an extra $3,000 on average per year on top of my STH costs and donations. Unless you are a big time donor, talking 50k a year plus, they do not really listen to you.
3k in 18 years? I wouldn't listen to you either. Don't try to hire me as a consultant. Sheesh
Goal is National Championship
CBP profile my people who landed here over 100 yrs before Mayflower. Most I've had to deal with are ignorant & low IQ.
Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

Oh 3k a year, still can't hire my services.

I would not want to hire your services anyway - your reading comprehension would not be up to my standard for a consultant.  ;)

Quote from: MUbiz on Today at 11:59:28 AMEverything you mentioned MUBB does except the Major is focused on charity or at current students - that is amazing and I want MUBB to continue that.

As a STH who consistently spends 6-8k a year on tickets and donations, I would like to see things that I can take my kids too - ie the block party, where my kids can meet the entire team. Maybe bring back midnight madness once every other year? When I attended MU - there was nothing better and I think it would be incredible if I could share the midnight madness experience with my young boy. I do not even care if there are hot dogs at that event!

Keep the charity events going - but add a few events back for us fans that are not high level donors, but do drop a decent amount of cash.

I miss the giveaways as well. It might seem trite, but when you get a nice D Wade bobblehead, or an Al McGuire t-shirt, or those awesome pint glasses, you could see where your dollars were going. That doesn't really exist anymore. Maybe a schedule poster early in the season or for senior night, but that's about it.

It seems that Marquette has cut everything they don't see an immediate profit on. So no giveaways, no Haunted Hoops, no Madness. But those are the same things that gin up excitement and create new fans.

Wades mentioned the players high fiving after every game, but I'll note that's actually only after the wins. It was very cool that my daughter managed to get pics with Shaka, Kam, Stevie, & Ben last year, then I printed the pics out and at the next win she got them all signed. Ben Gold is her favorite player on this team because of that. But that's because of where our seats were & 99% of the kids attending won't get that memory & keepsake.

If the argument is that times are tight, that goes both ways, and likely explains what's at least a 10% drop in STHs from last year. And if Marquette wants to enjoy boom times when and if they return, they need to investing in those future generations of fans, and not just the 1% that could afford to be in the front row or selected for the Kohl's shopping trip.

I knew plenty here won't care about the complaints of STHs, but it's literally Marquette's job to care, and when this is coming from multiple corners, the ticket office blowing off fans who call to complain about how they are being treated (which felt like my experience yesterday) doesn't seem like a good model for fan retention or growth.

And I swear that last phrase was a coincidence, but after writing it, isn't that what Shaka says this program is all about?

Maybe I am mistaken but I seem to remember them doing these flash deals every year.  So it really shouldn't come as a surprise cheap tickets will be made available at some point.

Just like the be a student package during winter break.  I think that is probably the best deal if you are looking for great seats for cheap.

Quote from: DienerTime34 on Today at 12:34:56 PMI've always looked at the STH cost as a donation to the program, so I don't get too bent out of joint about all the sales for the casual fans.

This is where I am at.
