You know what I mean.

So because I thought I paid too much for UConn late last year, made sure I got Maryland tix this year in the days after they went on sale. 89 a ticket. Was 30 bucks less to go to a Louisville game in Louisville a week before that UConn game. And parking was a ton higher in Milwaukee. Now could get in for 22 a ticket. My in-person attendance the rest of the year will suffer as a result. Well below average job by MU ticket office.

LOL at the use of sycophant.

Quote from: brewcity77 on November 11, 2025, 05:05:10 PMScrew Marquette and this sale. My miniplan seats for Dayton were $92 each and now I could get them for $22 each (4 for less than the price of 1) because of a sale that has nothing to do with the game I'm going to?

While also undercutting the value of secondary market tickets for all remaining non-con games?

They should've offered this to STH/miniplan holders only first. This is because Marquette completely failed to market single game tickets and didn't put them up for sale until 2 days before the season. And they told me "this is to honor Jerel" what a load of crap. This is because they were inept selling tickets, jacked prices up too high to retain their customer base, and are now basically screwing over loyal fans to make up for their own ineptitude.

I'm sure plenty of sycophants will try to defend this, but it's a slap in the face of STHs & miniplan holders.

Is this also why the distribution of the tickets for last Sunday was so last minute?

Didn't Broeker oversee the ticket operations prior to promotion?

I was pleasantly surprised when the mini-plan prices made my season tickets the right move dollar wise. Between this and the inevitable Be a Student package, I'm interested to see if that holds up.

MUbiz

I share the sentiment of the few others - I spent $1,090 on those 5 games that are on sale buying season tickets, but could have spent $220 if I had waited for the sale. And when the sale started, there were seats in my section as part of the sale.

It is what it is at this point, but as a season ticket holder for 18 seasons, I definitely do not feel like the athletic department is valuing my donations every year.

Not pissed at all - just someone who has given a ton of of my hard earned money to MU athletics over my lifetime and I look around and see other athletic departments doing a much better job than MU does.

I do think MU has been relying pretty heavily on the MU fanbase dedication and the success on the court we've had.

I'm worried as the latter starts to fall off, the consistent revenue streams of season ticket holders starts to reduce. I think they take for granted a bit that the sweater vests (which I fall in now) will keep re-upping their tickets out of habit. I think that's a risky game, especially as costs everywhere rise and more donation needs pop up.

Couple that with scrapping some fan favorite activities and I think the AD is risking alienating fans if the team isn't a Top 25 team.

I have some Creighton and SJU friends that have season tickets. Creighton has a fan fest where you can meet and talk to players and coaches. Creighton does a great job integrating the jr high and high school basketball teams and lets some of them tunnel run out to the court pregame.

St John's had something similar called Stormfest - additionally SJU had events at local restaurants where you could go get an autograph and talk to the players/coaches. SJU will also let local kids be the ball boys or girls for pregame warmups at certain games.

Its building these relationships with the fans and especially the younger kids that pays dividends in the future. You can turn a middle school kid into a fan for life because he got to run on the court pregame or had something signed. MUBB lacks any type of building the next generation of fans. I know some think this is not a problem at all - but the current generation of MUBB fans will not live forever.

I think some of those fan activities were pretty hokey for a D1 athletic program. But these flash sales, while they may work in the short run, really do incentivize people to reconsider buying season tickets in the long run. Why buy the whole think when you can selectively buy the games you want and wait and see if you can get the other more cheaply?

Venting on Scoop is always welcome, but I sincerely hope that some of y'all who are unhappy about this will be letting Broeker and other decision-makers know.

I have voiced my opinion many times over the years to Mike B and other MU athletic higher ups. I have felt my suggestions have fallen on deaf ears. By no means am I one of MUBBs top boosters- but over the last 18 years as a STH, I have given an extra $3,000 on average per year on top of my STH costs and donations. Unless you are a big time donor, talking 50k a year plus, they do not really listen to you.

Just scored club level @Seton Hall tickets for $31.

Perfect excuse to build an NYC weekend trip.

Sorry to hear that. But I still would let them know about your latest reasons for  dissatisfaction if that applies to you.

For the same reason some folks contribute thousands of dollars above and beyond the cost of season tickets when they buy their tickets - yes, they want access to better tickets and perks, but they also want to support the program.

Marquette has had the freshman do Q&As at Major Goolsby's where the fans can meet with them, the team walks around the first rows of seats and high fives fans after every home game, the team takes inner city kids shopping at Kohl's around the holidays, visit Children's Wisconsin, does Marquette's reading program at local elementary schools etc.  I think Marquette is probably doing more of this than you realize.

I haven't been able to attend any of the open practice or scrimmage events in the last number of years, but do they have any autograph opportunities for younger fans at those?

Everything you mentioned MUBB does except the Major is focused on charity or at current students - that is amazing and I want MUBB to continue that.

As a STH who consistently spends 6-8k a year on tickets and donations, I would like to see things that I can take my kids too - ie the block party, where my kids can meet the entire team. Maybe bring back midnight madness once every other year? When I attended MU - there was nothing better and I think it would be incredible if I could share the midnight madness experience with my young boy. I do not even care if there are hot dogs at that event!

Keep the charity events going - but add a few events back for us fans that are not high level donors, but do drop a decent amount of cash.

UW has had their main sports' season ticket holders (besides volleyball) go way down over the last 10 years.  Their get in price for their buy games this year was $15.  Big Ten go from $24 to $40.  The two marquee games: us and Purdue is $68.  MU is selling their cheapest ticket tonight (not resale) for $32. Maryland $64. Butler/ UConn $71.

You can go to a practice/scrimmage in July and then again in October. You can get autographs, pictures, high fives, talk with the players, etc. very accessible.

DienerTime34

I've always looked at the STH cost as a donation to the program, so I don't get too bent out of joint about all the sales for the casual fans.
