Quote from: TAMU, Knower of Ball on October 21, 2025, 11:48:02 PMMy guess:

1: Sean Jones
2: Chase Ross
3: Zaide Lowery
4: Ben Gold
5: Caedin Hamilton

First guys off the bench:
Royce Parham
Nigel James
Tre Norman
Damarius Owens

Occasional subs:
Adrien Stevens
Joshua Clark

Garbage Minutes/Possible Redshirt:
Ian Miletic
Michael Phillips II

Redshirt:
Sheek Pearson

Adrien will quickly take up Tre's minutes if Tre can't make open shots. Shaka referred to Adrien as a physically tough guard and good shooter today at media day.

I'll be very surprised if Parham doesn't start and if Stevens only gets occasional minutes off the bench.

I'm very high on Adrien. I've been very high on him since we started recruiting him. I don't think it's often that true freshman are ready to play the way Shaka wants them to. I'll bet on the third year guy at this point.

Royce, it's not a knock on him at all. I believe in the Zaide hype and I think that gets him a starting spot. I think Chase and Ben are locks to start. You need a PG so that leaves only one starting spot. I don't believe in Caedin yet. I'm gonna need to see to believe. But Shaka has been consistently pushing the Caedin train. I'm translating that as "Caedin starts with Ben at the 4." Could definitely be wrong, but that's my guess. I also think that Royce can thrive in a "sophomore Joplin BE6MOY" type role.

Agree with this based on the comments from media day. Only change I'd make is bumping Stevens into the "first guys off the bench" group. Think he'll be a more of a regular rotation player for us, but we'll see if they truly go 10 deep.

I'm holding out skepticism on Fetch until I see it happen, but this feels about right. The two interchangeable bits are likely Hamilton/Parham if Fetch isn't ready and Norman/Stevens if the freshman can take Tre's minutes (which Shaka was happy to give away down the stretch last year).

Opened one of those clickbait articles (forgive me, Pope Leo)about worst fan bases across the sport spectrum.  MU did not make the top 25.  I have to believe they were in the 'others receiving votes' section.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

I think Adrien is already ahead of Tre.  Adrien has played well in the two public scrimmages. He has a college ready body, defends well, and shoots well enough.

Tre looks like more of the same that we've seen for the past two years.  His shot and all around offensive game are still lacking.

Plus, Shaka has consistently mentioned Adrien along side Nigel as freshman ready to play.  We haven't heard anything about Tre.  Shaka's praised Zaide, Caedin, Nigel, and Adrien but no mention of Tre.  If Tre was in the guard rotation, I would think Shaka would say something, like "Hey, Tre Norman has improved. He can give us minutes."

I expect Tre to be in the 10/11 range with Josh Clark.  Guys who play spot minutes.  Tre can at least provide solid defense in a limited role, but I just am not a believer in his offense.

mileskishnish72

It would be truly remarkable if the Caedin we saw last year has morphed into a starting BE center. Gotta think Royce is a starter. If CH has truly made a remarkable jump then in the words of the peasant witnessing Lady Godiva's ride (she rode sidesaddle), "Bully for our side!"

Galway Eagle

Unless Tre has zero desire to leave/play I have a tough time imagining he wouldn't see the writing on the wall for minutes if Adrien was ahead of him right now. Not saying it won't happen eventually but I imagine he's talked with Shaka and was basically told "floor time is yours to lose" so to start the year I'm agreeing with TAMU's rotation. As the year goes on it may change.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

MUbiz

Trilly mentioned Miletic is a possible redshirt. Which makes sense as he needs to get stronger to compete in Big East.

Vander Blue Man Group

Personally, I doubt Shaka told Tre minutes were "his to lose".  I think the only guys that were 100% guaranteed starting spots were Chase and Ben.

It's also possible Tre really values being a part of the program regardless of his minutes.

Tre also values his NIL along with being part of the program I would bet.

Wouldn't surprise me.  His defense in HS was nowhere near BE ready.

I think I missed something. Where did "Fetch" come from? Is that what Hamilton's teammates call him for whatever reason?

And where was Hamilto on all of those minutes projections? Along with Ramsey, he'll be the key to our season.

In the movie Mean Girls, a character tries to make the word "fetch" popular as a substitute for "cool" or "awesome".  Another character tells her to stop because it's never going to happen (see GIF above).

I may be mistaken, but I believe Brew is referring to MU's promotion of Caedin as them "trying to make fetch happen".

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Thanks for the explanation.  I had no idea where that reference came from.

This is entirely it. After last year, the idea of Caedin starting alongside Ben seems nuts, but so far Fetch has been named Domino of the Week three times and is one of the first names out of Shaka's mouth whenever he talks about this team.

Last year, we heard he would be a bit part of the rotation and that never really came to be. I think him being a Big East starting level center could be transformational for this squad, but remain skeptical. So I'm reserving judgment until I see Fetch happen.

ATL MU Warrior

Yeah, an absolutely HUUUUGE transformation would be required for him to play significant minutes, let alone start.  He was so hesitant and played further under the rim than Muggsy last year.

Thanks for the info, brew (and for the explanation, Titan), but Fetch ain't gonna happen except in your mind!

Agreed. Huge transformation needed.

Shaka said his improved handle and passing could replicate what Oso gave them from the 5. I can see glimpses of why Shaka would say his passing could get to Oso's level. But even with an improved handle, he doesn't appear to have the quick first step that Oso had to blow by defenders with the bounce or to get quick lobs at the rim when defenders sagged off.

ATL MU Warrior

He flashed some potential for sure.  Hopefully he is much improved.

I dont know that Id say Caedin is a Big East starting 5 yet, but he did look ALOT better than last year in the open scrimmage a couple weeks ago.  I didnt buy the hype last year and was hesitant again this year, but I thought he was pretty noticeably better.
