Well, who in this room hasn't done 90+ miles per hour on interstate highways?

Anyone who has driven the Tri-State in Chicago outside a construction zone drives that fast just to "keep up."

Interstate 95 between Jacksonville and Palm Beach County is the damn Bubba 400. You aren't even considered a Superspeeder under Florida law until you cross three figures on an interstate.

Not necessarily. It is common for the cop who stops you to question you, and one question could have been about why you decided to speed.

Quote from: Billy Hoyle on October 20, 2025, 03:38:18 PMWith all of the non-stop construction and the way Indiana drivers are, it's normal to "drive erratically" on I-65.

This....  Last time I drove through Indy - which wasn't that long ago - INDOT was storing all of their construction bollards along the highway leaving no place at all to pull over.  By "storing" I mean there was no sign of construction past/present/future.

I just called the Florida State Police. They will be at your home soon, with a copy of your confession from Scoop.

Driving in SE Michigan, if you aren't doing 80+, you are an impediment.

If I have the roads correct, it was from the the I-65/I-70 split on the NE side to the east side of downtown which is a cluster.

Who here has never driven 90 mph?
Who here has never received a speeding ticket?

Have driven 90. Have never received a speeding ticket.

Every time I'm driving through Indianapolis traffic is going 80-85 in a 55. He was going a little faster.

tower912

I have driven 90.  My last ticket was 28 years ago.  Got smarter about my speeding.

Alright, let's turn this into a thread to commiserate with Kam and confess to our driving mistakes. Here's mine...

The summer after graduation in 1988, one of my roomies got married up in New Franken, outside of Green Bay. The wedding ceremony was something like 11am, so a crew of us heading up from MKE met at O'Ds on Wells St. around 7am to start the day. A couple of bloody mary's and a couple of beers later, our convoy of 4 or 5 cars headed north. I was with one buddy, driving my mom's relatively new Acura Legend. Somewhere between Port Washington and Sheboygan another car in our convoy passed us, with everyone proudly waving their beers at us. What?! How?! My buddy and I, with no beers in our car, thought "this is Wisconsin, there's gotta be a place to get beer just off the next exit." And so we exited. And, of course, there was a place to buy. We bought and got back on the highway, needing to catch the convoy since we didn't know where we were going. I still know that driving more than 100mph with an open beer was the dumbest driving thing I've ever done. We did catch up, though, and did arrive in time for the ceremony.

My senior year, I flew home for spring break because my parents bought a new car and were giving me their '73 Plymouth Valiant for me to drive back to MU.

I knew I couldn't make that solo drive without tunes, so I had a cassette player installed.

I was driving through Indiana, belting out Love Her Madly with Morrison, when I saw the flashing lights behind me. I slowed down immediately and pulled directly behind a car in the right lane.

The cop asked, "Do you know how fast you were going?" I said I didn't, but I knew it was too fast. He said I was going 95 in an 55 zone, and that was a felony, and he could take me to jail. But he was gonna do be a favor and just give me a ticket for following too closely. And he warned me that he was sending out my information so I'd better not get caught speeding the rest of the trip.

I kept it under 55 the rest of my way through Indiana.
