I would say that my knowledge of fiba Asia is very limited. But yes, id hazard a guess at marquette being a better team then 95% of the teams there.

China, japan, maybe Australia? Anyone else even comes close?

I would say Marquette is better than some of those teams.

But playing in real games, against real opponents, who are often older and more experienced, is better for his development than playing against the same guys for the hundreth time in a summer.

And I think Shaka is not only all for it, but is happy and proud about it.

Regardless, I am not sure the rest of the team is even on campus right now. I think they have break until the start of school. And the start of school is more than a week after this tournament ends.

Good for Ben - nothing wrong with wanting to play for your home country. In past years, Ben has basically been relegated to the NZ bench; this year, he is getting some run. I do not anticipate this helping his game drastically, but we will see when Ben is playing against the top centers of the BE in about 3-4 months time.

Can't think of a negative of participating in this event for Ben.  Glad he has this opportunity. Needs to be a leader this year.  Worldly experiences like this can only help.
