Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I am completely in favor, as it would make scoop interesting.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I already stopped watching Marquette basketball. But this would make me watch it less.

I didn't read the article, is st Thomas replacing us
"If we finish off this recruiting class on a high note and have another good year next year, with one 2018 already signed up (Bailey) we may be on the verge of a new era of sustained basketball success which would be known to all as the Golden Eagles era." - Herman Cain

I could not read the article as it is behind a pay wall.

I cancelled the other day and they offered me a year for $10. More than happy to pay that.

And while I hate that realignment, I get it from the author. Jim Root wants to see more sensible leagues rather than super leagues like the SEC, B10, & B12 have become. Any mass realignment that does that is going to leave a number of the 79 current high majors outside the new power structure.

Looking at it, there are a few tweaks that could make it more palatable. Replace LUC & SLU with Cincy and Xavier, I'm suddenly a lot more interested. Shades of the old C-USA when it didn't suck.

Sorta had the feel of "I need a click bait story in 5 minuets Chat GPT, what do you got?".

Athletic is decent for local sports coverage but it's more volume that quality these days

Even the Athletic realizes the return of Mike Deane level success is close at hand.

I like the OP's headline, which aims to help us all remember Stuart Scott.

few things get me as outraged as an article about things that will never happen and is only written for clicks.

The irony of this post after complaining about a Marquette football tshirt having an unoriginal phrase on it...

The New York Times has that effect on people.  ;D

You guys are letting your pro-Marquette mentality blind you from the point of the article. It's about trimming the fat from bloated power conferences. The point is more about 16-18 team leagues abutting both coasts. Condensing them with geographic sense, natural rivalries, and round robin potential across the board.

A Big 10 that has 10 relatively close state schools makes more sense than what we have now. An SEC with teams in the Southeast, an ACC generally along the Atlantic Coast, and yes, a Big East with schools in the northeast. From natural historic rivals and regional proximity, Syracuse & Pitt make more sense there than we do.

Just because the article mentions Marquette doesn't mean it's about Marquette. It's about a realignment that makes sense broadly to college basketball fans.

And frankly, replace Loyola & SLU with Xavier & Cincy and that league would be a hell of a lot of fun, and like the old CUSA & Metro, able to compete on a national level with anyone.
