There is no chance Wisconsin is winning this game.

Joel Klatt is grasping at straws as a commentator.  I guess Whisky beat USC?  Whipty Freaking Do.  This is not an "emotional letdown".  They are getting destroyed.

Is Klatt on the Whisky payroll??

I thoroughly enjoyed watching that beatdown of the Weasels ... till I got bored midway through the third quarter and turned it off.

With only the Sisters of the Poor remaining on their schedule, they have a chance to be the nation's worst 9-3 team. In the upcoming 24-team playoff era, that probably would get them in ... which is either sad or funny.

They will beat up Rutgers, Maryland, and Purdue and gain a huge false sense of winning.  Then get crushed by the Gophers in the final game to realize they still suck.

I'm not a math wizard but if I'm not mistaken, Iowa pummeled the Weasels 37-0 in Madison last year.  So by my calculations....that's 67-0 in favor of Iowa in their last two contests with UW.  We're not exactly talking about a powerhouse football program that historically puts up gaudy offensive numbers.  Before the broadcast they said Wisconsin "circled this game".

They circled it to remind themselves to pick up some sweet corn in Iowa.

Big day in the WIAC.  Many results help Marquette's cause.

Johns Hopkins beat Muhlenberg yesterday on a fair catch free kick as time expired. Why do I mention this? Because apparently the last successful fair catch fee kick in college football came in 1939, by Marquette in a victory over Michigan State.

Iowa has outscored the Weasels 81-0 since early in the fourth quarter of their 2024 meeting.

One day after his "agency" announced that QB Anthony Colandrea would return to Nebraska for 2027, he threw a pick-6 to seal yet another brutal loss for Matt Rhule's team.

I watched the end of that game. Brutal to even give up the touchdown prior to the interception. Washington is terrible too.

Agree with both of those assessments ... though the catch by the Washington WR on 4th-and-18 to keep the go-ahead drive alive was pretty incredible.

This should sound familiar to us Marquette hoops fans. Maybe it's just a "Smart" thing, though we'll see if Kirby eventually has to cave like Shaka did ...

In the wild west of modern-day college football, a de facto professional league in which every player is a free agent, one school has been the only constant.

Since 2021, when wide-open transfer rules and rampant NIL spending became the way to do business, Georgia has piled up four playoff appearances and two national titles, more than anyone else in the country. And after hammering No. 17 Florida on Saturday, the Bulldogs are the betting favorite to add another championship trophy in January. But the strangest thing about their dominance isn't that they've found order in America's most topsy-turvy sport.

It's that they've done it by telling the best players in the country not to transfer to Georgia. Instead of building star-studded free-agent classes, Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart leans on long-timers who have proven their loyalty through years of his brutal practices.

"I choose to retain," Georgia coach Kirby Smart told reporters before the season. "We think that our investment in our player is better than your investment in your player."

In the arms race of modern college football, investing in long-term potential instead of the transfer portal is almost catastrophically conservative—the equivalent of shoving your savings under your mattress. Last year, Indiana proved how effectively a transfer class can fuel a title run by going 16-0 and with players largely plucked from other programs. This season, No. 1 Miami features the country's most accurate passer—a transfer from Duke.

Georgia, meanwhile, has taken the exact opposite approach. The Bulldogs' starting quarterback, Gunner Stockton, is from a town less than 90 minutes north of Georgia's campus. The team's leading receiver and rusher also grew up in-state. And, just like the bulk of Smart's roster, each of those three stars committed to Georgia straight out of high school.

It makes it easier to employ that strategy when you are pulling a bunch of 5 stars every recruiting cycle.

Absolutely. And yet other programs that land 5-stars don't employ it. It'll be interesting to watch going forward.
