Heard Nigel James played awesome at practice yesterday and should see minutes during the season.

Heard Sean Jones stands out, Clark not ready, Ross doing well and Ben needs somebody to kick him in his ass

Instagram showed them all sparring in the boxing gym.

Gosh, it sounds like team chemistry is not great to start.

Why? Not hustling? Simply not playing well?

Not physical enough, still soft

tower912

That would be a regression.  Certainly would not have characterized him has soft previously.  Overly deferential, perhaps.

I disagree with the idea that Ben is soft. Plays through injuries, good post defender.

Lack of offensive post game doesn't mean he's soft.

Yes, he is not soft. But he could be a lot more aggressive on offense. Too willing to settle though he may have been deferring to his older teammates.

BCHoopster

He would be fine if the other centers can play so he can move out to a wing

tower912

He played through shin splints and a broken finger.

He did a nice job defending the bigs we played last season.
He is more than capable of holding his own......having other bigs that can also play will definitely be needed though now that Jop is gone and his minutes will need to be filled by Royce/Ben.

Agreed. Effort and grit there. Needs an edge. Plays "nice" too often.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Did you watch the last game of the year and trying to guard Zuby,  you watching the same games I am?

Yes. He had trouble guarding the best center in the conference. As did everyone else.

But that doesn't negate what Mark is saying.

Yes...I also watched him against Kalkbrenner and many others

I saw guards unable to keep Richmond and Luis Jr. out of the lane.  When Ben made the correct help rotation, Ejiofor getting the pass and punishing everyone around him.  Ejiofor played well.

Did you see Ben shut down Crowl?  How about Kalkbrenner in Milwaukee?  How about Sorber, the first rounder?

Just never been an alpha.  Ben may just be a role player as his ceiling.  Sean may be an alpha. Parnham looks like one.  Will be interesting to see who takes the alpha roles with their combination of talent plus leadership.

There are no obvious Tyler's, Kams, Oso's or Stevie's on this team going into next year.  Will be fun to see who emerges.
