No mention of a reclass. Though I do wonder if that comes after he finishes his current school year - or maybe not at all and he's simply a '26 guy.

Either way great news.

Awesome!

Welcome Sheek!

Excellent!  Great start to the class of 2026.

For those who commented at the time that our loss would negatively impact his recruitment

Pearson:  "I was at the Xavier game (Sat., Jan. 18).  It wasn't the post season game in NY but the regular season game in Milwaukee.  They happened to lose that game, so for me, it was good to be in a team film session when they lost v. if they had won ... it was not good that they lost, obviously ... but from a recruit's perspective, it was good to see the full effect there was after a loss ... how they all went about responding."

Heard he needs to finish up some extra schoolwork this summer for the reclass to be official.  Makes sense neither side will announce it until it is official.

Plus he still gets to play AAU this summer to increase his rankings, for those who care about that haha.

bluebodega

That's great news. I know his sister playing volleyball at Iowa State helped their cause a little bit. But he found his best fit at MU. Welcome Sheek.

Seems like we finally got our version of Jameel McKay all these years later.
Can't wait to see Sheek in the mix and what this staff can do with a high-caliber HS big.

That's cool - thanks for posting this.

Very excited about Shaka landing a top priority - and a big man who has the agility to both block shots and do all the other things Marquette wants in a 5.

Glad he is already saying that losing is not only acceptable, but encouraged to maintain culture.

You can't teach height.

Found some high school stats from a prep hoops Missouri article on his commitment

As a junior, he averaged 16.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks a game while shooting 69 percent from the field.

BCHoopster

Pearson only issue is his weight right now, needs to add 30 pounds to compete in the Big East.  Sort of same built as Clark, has lots of time to add pounds. Can see having twin towers 2 or 3 year from now, it will be fun to watch

Sheek Pearson is one of the five best high school players in the area. He is forgoing his senior season, reclassifying and will go to Marquette University.

Sheek is legit. On the rise player. Very good get for MU.

In high school ball, Sheek played with Tristan Reed, the younger brother of Tarris Reed Jr. They were twin towers so to speak. It was challenging for opponents to take both of them out of a game.

It's a smaller school. They moved up a classification this season. It's also one of the best 1, 2, or 3, (private) academic high schools in his state.

The Lens

Taking a big every year and red-shirting them is a really smart investment. At worst, you'll get a serviceable big, and if one pops it'll be potentially program changing. I love Shaka's roster construction.

Who said he is redshirting? Shaka say something yet, he might be better then Clark and Hamilton?

See the YouTube video in Tall Titan's post.  I don't know that is definitive, but the source is cited.

Agreed.  Feel like a few things need to happen before a reclassification is announced but at least it seems like that is the plan.

I also have a scholarship table back to 1975-76 at muoverload.com > Scholarship Table.

Thanks, but I guess I'm special because I don't get the News option in the upper right corner of my screens.

And to be clear RUBYWISCY has nothing to do with UW-Madison.

That's too bad, Viper was looking for someone to join his club.

From 247 after watching them play yesterday....,,,was in context of praising JJ Andrews.....

He did get some good help from Sheek Pearson (Marquette) and Trey Pearson. Sheek is a highly intriguing big man with size, length, athleticism but a frame that needs time to fill out. He had some impressive flashes on both ends of the court and is looking like a really nice pickup by Shaka Smart.

Sheek Pearson will bring a lot of technical skills to Marquette.

That includes catching lobs and also building his own computer.
