While the season didn't end the way anyone had hoped, the last four years saw a major step change versus the prior era.

4 NCAA tourneys, 3 Big East Semi's and NCAA Wins, 2 Big East Finals, 1 Sweet 16 and Big East Championship.  Great job Kam, Stevie, Jop & Cam.

It was so much fun seeing this group develop and attend/be a part of the success.  A few notable things I'll remember...

Kam - amazing player - shooter becomes PG.  Number two on the all-time scoring list - number nine single season assists behind legendary PGs Miller, Kolek, Hutch & Sam Worthen.

Stevie - The spark on D...turned the tide of so many games

Jop - The defense and rebounding senior year in addition to the ability to score

More wins in their 4 year career than in any other 4 year stretch since McGuire.  Always carried themselves with class and grace and were wonderful representatives for MU.

I said it before, I will say it again.  They deserve to be held in the same regard as the 3 amigos.   A few years down the road, they will be.

Absolutely deserve to be. I think what'll stop them is people attributing their two best years to Kolek and Oso. Despite Kam being the leading scorer and 2nd team all conference the Championship year, Stevie being the defensive anchor for both and Jop being 6th man of the year the championship year.

the Amigos were incredible but did not advance to the second weekend in the tournament, did not win the conference, had the leadership their freshman year of a future NBA player, that was a holdover from the FF team, that Kam/Jop/Stevie didn't.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Agree, I don't know why that needs to be such a heated debate either. They were both great groups of guys that were part of a lot of wins.

Will miss seeing them play for Marquette.  Some of my favorite players I've been able to watch.  Very easy to root for.  Put Marquette basketball back on the map.

After this quote, MUBB did not beat UConn during the rest of Kam's career.

I'm sure this is why, too.

No it's because UConn doesn't choke away every big game like this group seemed to do.

Not what I was implying at all. I was just making a statement of fact.

Winningest 4 years and, ergo, winningest trio since the McGuire era.

Agree Yes Thank You Guardians

mubear

In the last minute or so, when the game was long out of reach, I wish Shaka had been true to his respect and affection for the FOUR Guardians and put Cam Brown into the game.  It would have been a nice tribute to all the Guardians and Cam in particular.

I remember being at a last home game in the old Fieldhouse in which UW did a similar tribute to a senior by starting him and allowing him to play a minute or two before subbing in the usual starter.  Obviously that doesn't work in a tournament game, but in the last minutes of a lost cause, why not?

tower912

The whole seniors subbing out for the last time thing is always fun.  Stevie had checked out for the last time minutes before and nobody noticed.

Nice. If you and the scoopers who tapped the "like" button would like me to tell you all about the Al Era, I will be happy to start a new thread on the subject.

We thank Shaka and the team for many hours of enjoyable entertainment.

I'm grateful to have been able to root for these guys for the last four years and wish them great success in the future.
