I saw a semi flip-switch today with our guys in the 2H.  Very little hesitancy, zip passes and better ball movement, quicker to the loose balls, and rising and firing with confidence.  Obviously C-Well had a career game.  Props to him.  That said down 14, with X playing for their tournament lives, MU responded with a force we haven't seen for some time.

The challenge will be difficult tomorrow but we know we can beat them.  1000 % of the pressure is on them.  Mitchell once again will be a big key to this game.  The young man had a massive 2H today.  Let's go now!!

Biggie Clausen

While the season as a whole hasn't been as charmed as it was in '23 when we beat UCONN, this game has the potential to be just about as much fun.  Would love a revenge game where we knock St. John's off in the Garden in the BET on Friday night during their dream season.

MU82

Not sure why St. John's would feel a significant amount of pressure.

No doubt Biggie.

A 2 seed is still in play for them.  Plus, the home court pressure.

wisblue

We know for one thing that it will be harder for St. John's to beat MU for a third time than it was for them to win the first two times.

Mr. Dodds taught me that.

Scoop Snoop

So....the home team has more pressure on them than the visiting team, right? Since Muggsy said it, it's not even debatable.  ::)  :o  ;D

Beating SJU at the MSG is a big ask.  However, MU has been competitive with them twice.   Two good games.  I am going to stay blindly optimistic.  MU gets over the hump this time.

I'm on board. The adjective "blindly" was the clincher, as it removes any need to defend the W prediction with stats or rationality.  ;D

Yes, but recognizing that SJU is tough at MSG shows I am not completely oblivious.

Second half cheers from UCONN fans screaming "we are Marquette" will be glorious

Zero rings, but lotsa banners, Baldy.

No - that only works against Marquette not for Marquette.  Just like the it's impossible to beat a team on their senior night.

Never thought you were Tower. Not for a moment. Blind optimism is free. I like free.

I have thought all season that MU could be a second weekend team.  I still believe that.  I also allow for the crapshoot nature of the dance.

are you being flippant here? StJ hasn't had a season like this since when,  Walter Berry? Top 10 ranking. 2-seed...possible 1 in play. 'Home' court. Darlings of NYC. They might come out a little tight. RickyP has the StJ program re-established as a beast...which is GREAT for the conference imo, but this team isn't invincible. MU? House $. Just play. Whatever happens happens. Maybe everything clicks tnite...good shooting, low on the turnovers, hit FT's (they matta!), stay out of foul trouble and who knows, might be playing tomorrow night against our buddy Hurley with the possibility of a 4-seed next week.

And equally somebody baited him into a whole dissertation on the topic now :)

We're going to lose.  If you're going to the game, I'd sell the ticket and leave the city early

Mr. Nielsen

Not sure what happens on the secondary market today. On Thursday, there wasn't that many St.John's fans in attendance. In the post-game Rick Pitino confirmed my thought thru out the boardcast.

With 757 points tonight, Kam Jones would pass Markus Howard for first on the all-time scoring list.

Stevie is 17 points from 1000.

Vander Blue Man Group

Feel like there will be a significant amount of UConn fans there tonight that will root for us.  Am I off-base with that thought?

I was thinking that too but someone pointed out they may want to face St. John's in the final.

Still think they cheer for us.

NYC is full of transplants (who, of course, have their own team) and not St. John's alums.

It takes almost an hour on the subway to get from SJU to MSG.  I can get from the Madison area to the Fiserv in almost the same amount of time!
