Some MU folks following Barrett Loer.......Berry also following Amari Evans......

Quote from: Vander Blue Man Group on April 08, 2026, 10:30:57 PMI haven't seen any valid source that he's committed to Providence.

I've seen BS troll posts saying he's committed to Kentucky and to Providence.

What are you going off of?

Are these follows recent?  We recruited both early as HS recruits but then focused on others instead.

Amari Evans would be really fun.  Big, defensive wing we dont have right now.  Tons of upside there.  Tennessee didnt want to lose him.

Loer I can't imagine being relevant.

Amari Evans in the other hand...I think he has high potential. Defensive stopper

"Shaka Smart is in California today to meet with Kyle Evans and Drew McKeever, reinforcing Marquette's interest in a transfer center"

Drew McKeever seems like a good get. Sophomore averaged 8pts and 9 boards a game for St Marys.

I dont understand. Have you not heard all of these people, Marquette is totally flush with cash for players.

Quote from: onepost on April 08, 2026, 02:31:46 PMMarquette has always had wealthy donors like Dick Strong, Todd Adams. Guys who personally buy out Wojo or offer to put up as much money as it would take for Tyler Kolek to come back (he opted to go to the NBA). For all his faults, Lord knows I'm no fan of his, Broeker has done a great job of landing 6-figure donations that have amounted to a very healthy NIL pot.

It's not just the super-donors -- if you look at the Blue Gold Club (mezzanine club) that's $5k per person in there (on top of their payment for the season tix) and the Marquette Room(BMO Club) is $10k on top of season tix --- both are very full every game.

There is also an opportunity to pledge and give $125k over 5 years -- seats are likely very close to the court -- also includes an opportunity to travel  with the team on the charter to an away game.

Many are on this plan as well.

The dollars are there -- and not totally from the mega-donors whom we all appreciate.

Please reach out to MU if you think you are interested in upping you participation  ;D

This was on State Spartans Update regarding John Blackwell.
Well, this is getting interesting fast. Word is Michigan State may have a real shot at bringing a big-name guard back home from a Big Ten rival, and if that happens, the whole conversation around next season changes in a hurry.

April 7th through 9th is a DEAD PERIOD for portal recruiting, so the earliest they could get together face to face is Friday, April 10th.  Maybe they had a Zoom call with the recruit(s).

Official visits this weekend are a huge thing in portal recruiting to try to get the first commitments.

I'm looking at juniors and seniors in the portal to give Marquette at least 2-3 years of experience and to also balance out the classes.

Kyle Evans is one I'm watching closely because he can run the floor, seems to have decent hands, can obviously block shots and continues to get better.  The past experience with Marquette assistant CJ Rivers might be big.  In an interview, Kyle talked about wanting to eventually get Italian citizenship and Travis Diener and his wife could share some things on that.

In this case because it looks like he's going to Providence and not Marquette.

Snag Punch and one of the 3 bigs we're targeting, then add a sharpshooter in the 40% range fron downtown.

That's got to be false. MSU does not take mercenaries, which is why Michigan's title will forever have an asterisk next to it. Izzo builds, he doesn't buy.

Staff read Scoop and found out Byrd takes mid-range shots. Immediately crossed off the list.

Hoping to get Punch-drunk soon.

The whole mid-range shot policy is becoming tedious. It might be a non-issue as Nevada is leaving, but I still think MU is going to prioritize shots from 3 or the rim

While I appreciate the sarcasm, Izzo is about to go scorched earth to get title 2.  Little brother just got a massive noogie and is big mad

As they should. Every team does this.

I now it's still early but the speculation about Nolan Minessale has gone cold. Was there any interest or was it just a wish. I guess he must like where he is as he has not entered the portal thus far. Then again maybe we 're going after bigger fish.

Are we looking at any international players? Some of them can shoot the 3.

I'm quite certain it was real, maybe still is, but I'm sure they are looking at more established high major guys first.

He isn't even in the portal yet and I think that is probably a good thing for us at this point in the game.
