A lot of handwringing for a football stadium, but this place will be a sight to see when Michigan throws a boat load of money at the Packers to relocate to the UP.  8-)

It doesn't matter where they are, but as a Packers fan boy would I have some fun with it if they move to Indiana.

As a current resident of Indianapolis who already is paying for Lucas Oil stadium in my county tax bill for the foreseeable future, do I get a vote?

The idea of using public funding to pay for private infrastructure is unnatural carnal knowledgeing dumb.

Curious, how would it be any different than the Jets, Giants, Chiefs? Or for that matter Cowboys, Niners, Patriots?

Bearadise in Northern Indiana would be 27 miles from Soldier.

Arlington Heights is around 30 miles.

I don't care ultimately as a Bears fan, especially considering I'm having to travel up for games either way.  And this is all probably just more of the bears trying to leverage the state of Illinois for more funding.

But hey, at least Kevin Warren already has the chairs for the suites picked out.
Willfully misinformed.

The Patriots play in the heart of New England.  ;)

It wouldn't be too different. For me it's just a fun thing to needle Bears fans about.

I just think its funny to move from a stadium right next door to a world-class downtown skyline, to one right next door to an oil refinery.

Yup.

Also yup.

As someone who might want to go to a game one time ever, I'd much prefer AH. But it's funny to watch Kevin Warren see all of the positive momentum the Bears have generated on the field and shoot it in the dick off the field.

LOL! The mental picture of McCaskey being livid is evoking images of a grandma putting a grandchild in a 'time out'.

The Athletic's Jon Greenberg does a pretty good job here summing up why the Bears would be dumb to choose Indiana and why this is all likely a bluff:

And here's where you should pay attention. This isn't about a domed stadium. It's about what surrounds it.

The days of surrounding a stadium with a moat of parking lots are over. Anyone who thinks this drawn-out process is just about a new stadium with a roof is way behind the economic times. And simply put, a mixed-use district in Hammond isn't going to work as well as one would in Arlington Heights.

The area around the proposed stadium in Hammond just isn't as promising as the 326-acre property in Arlington Heights. Forget about the scenery and even the environmental concerns in Indiana. The demographics don't make sense if we're following the money.

Hammond is part of Indiana's Lake County, population about a half-million. The aggregate population of all the counties that make up Northwest Indiana is under 900,000.

By comparison, Arlington Heights is part of suburban Cook County, which has a population of around 2.5 million. Throw in Illinois' mostly affluent Lake County, and that population bumps up to more than 3 million. There are more people and more people with money in the northwest suburbs of Illinois than in northwest Indiana.

I suspect there may be an element of good cop/bad cop happening here. The McCaskeys know that moving to Indiana is unpopular with the fan base - a fair size majority of season ticket holders live north of 290 - and they're happy to let Warren take the heat for that while they uses the Hoosiers for leverage.

The UFL kicks off in a couple of weeks and has some rules for this season:

1. Field goals of 60 or more yards are worth four points. (It will be interesting to see if teams manipulate the length of the snap to get to 60 yards.)

2. No punting if a team advances the ball past the fifty yard line during a drive. Yes, that means that a penalty or loss of yardage could prevent a team from punting inside their own territory. (This actually intrigues me...)

It will forever be a hilarious footnote that in a era of Mahomes, Allen, Rodgers, Stafford, etc... the first fully guaranteed contract in NFL history, that ushered in a new phase of guaranteed money and contracts, went to Kirk Cousins.

But really what's more insane is that the Falcons gave him $100MM guaranteed at age 36 coming off a significant shoulder injury.
