Quote from: Dish on December 27, 2025, 10:07:17 PMSorry, how exactly are the Packers getting around his $98.4 million dead cap hit? I think I missed that in your analysis.

I dont' think it's a $98.4 cap hit.  Would be $42 and his cap hit for next year is $36M/falls off the books on a trade - so just a $6M delta.  Because it is a trade GB is only due his unallocated signing bonus, the other guarantees transfer to the acquiring team - based on what I've read.

But maybe you can link a different source that would suggest differently?

Quote from: GB Warrior on December 27, 2025, 10:09:24 PMThis is so ridiculous. Love has repeatedly played like a top 5 QB. If MLF calls a game for him like one, there isn't really any doubt

I understand Love has put up good numbers.  I like him.  But, he's the least athletic out of any of the top 5-10 QBs in the league.  Willis has shown he can make all the throws and he's a lot more dynamic playmaker.  Small sample size, yes, but it would be a ballsy move and GB could get some really good players in the draft with what they'd be able to get for Love.

Jordan love is not less athletic than Jared Goff and matthew stafford, Jesus Christ.

This is so dumb I'm not sure why I'm engaging. He has put up elite numbers while MLF dicked around and figured out he doesn't have a real running game.

If this team was not completely barren in the secondary (predictable the entire season) and decimated without its two most impactful DL (unlucky) this team would be at worst 10-4-1 and playing for something.

For clarity, $98.4 is the dead cap hit if the Packers released Love (not traded).

As mentioned, he has one of the most untradeable contracts in the NFL.

Whoever comes out of the wildcard into that 2 seeed will be salivating dodging the eagles.

Quote from: Dish on December 27, 2025, 10:16:51 PMJordan Love will infinity percent be on the Packers roster next year. He has maybe the most untradeable contract in the NFL this coming offseason.

The Packers are never going to eat $98.4 million in dead cap money.

Keeping a quarterback whose backup is better then (hypothetically) and getting rid of the backup due to worrying about dead cap is such a bears thing to do.

PointWarrior

And a packer thing in not getting value in return for the backup as well

I think it's really underselling how good Love has been this season to say Willis is better. Willis has had two good games, but I'm guessing defenses are selling out to stop the run.

CreightonWarrior

How jealous was Jordan yesterday that Malik wasn't constantly handcuffed with 3rd and 7s after two failed runs?

Love has missed (as in not seen and checked down) numerous wide open down the field throws this season.  Willis sees the field better/processes faster, and of course is a lot more athletic.

You really think LaFleur is calling games hindering Jordan Love?  And for a fun excercise:  Would you rather see the Packers defense have to defend Jordan Love or Malik Willis?

I think we need to see Demarcus Owen's more. That is, if we want to win games.
