Dolphins are going to pay Tua $54 million to play for someone else this year.

Schefter reporting the Packers are getting a "late round" 2027 pick for Gary.  Rusini reporting it's a 3rd rounder.  Getting a 3rd for him would be great.  Getting anything for him is a win.

But boy does Gutey have some work to do on the defense.  Wyatt and Parsons coming off major injuries, Wooden and Gary gone, LVN just not good, and not much else on the defensive line.  I think Franklin in and Quay out is a bit of a downgrade.  And of course the CBs are complete trash.

Getting a 3rd rounder for Gary would be a minor miracle.

Franklin is a bit of a downgrade, but I think its a smart move not investing too much into Quay. Corners are an enormous issue.

It's a 2027 fourth from Dallas.

Doing this after canning McDaniel is curious timing too.  He took the fall for having a $200MM QB playing with a scrambled brain and seeing ghosts. They were 15-19 the last 2 years with a broken Tua and then having to play a good chunk of the season last year with Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle.  8-9 last year given the QB situation may have actually been excellent coaching in retrospect.  Then this year, McDaniel had a bad Tua and a 7th round rookie as the backup starting for 3 games.  Yeesh.

Also, amusing timing entering into a historically terrible QB draft and a bad FA class for QBs.  Are they going to go after Daniel Jones?  Stop gap with Cousins or last gasp Rodgers?

I wonder if Malik Willis would be high on their list, given the Green Bay connections down there.

Apparently yes.

Punters getting paid today, damn.

$99.2 million dead-cap hit across the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Coby Bryant to Chicago, really liked him in Seattle.

That's a good signing, assuming the numbers aren't outrageous, and has the added benefit of likely ending Jaquan Brisker's days with the Bears.

3/$40M

I both like and dislike the money Linderbaum got. Raiders had money to spend and good to have him under center for Mendoza. It's just a lot for a center (I just don't value it as a premium pay position).

Not gonna lie: I wish the Seahawks had kept him. He excelled in Macdonald's system. That contract would have been pretty reasonable for them to absorb. They did just re-sign his backup, Ty Okada, who played well when either safety was injured.

Interested to see if the Seahawks now retain CB Jobe and/or WR Shaheed. I know they have prioritized locking up JSN and Witherspoon long-term, and those will be huge contracts.

It turns out $20 million would have been a bargain.

Mercy, indeed. I first read it as 3yrs/$60 and thought "that seems right".

Good for him to obliterate the Center market. $27M a year...damn.

Basically, the Raiders traded Crosby to Baltimore for Linderbaum and two firsts.

I kinda wish they would have just said screw it and eaten the whole $100 milly this year.  Then again I haven't looked at the specifics and maybe that would have foreclosed on signing Willis.  In tandem, I like it - I imagine the Willis deal will be like 3 years maybe with a 4th year option.  It makes this year interesting, gives them a mobile QB behind that bad o-line, and if it doesn't work out they'll draft a QB in 2027.
