My key to the game is to avoid James Breeding.

I'm also looking at Stevie to set the Marquette single season steal record if he can notch 54 in the game.

Quote from: Billy Hoyle on January 02, 2025, 10:46:42 AMIt's become obvious Schierman was their MVP the last two years. Mason Miller was expected to replace his three point shooting and has been a total bust. Losing Issacs is huge, he could have checked Kam. Ross will have a total mismatch being defended by Ashworth, as there is no way McDermott will put him on Kam.

Agree on Scheierman, and he always played well against us in particular. Not sure on his numbers but McAndrew looks like a pretty solid player from the eye test. Neal looks solid as well. I still think MU should be able to cause a lot of problems for them in the TO category.
VIOLENCE!

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on January 02, 2025, 10:35:51 AMYa I'm not really worried about scoring, it's the way we matchup with Kalkbrenner on the other end...and he doesn't get called for fouls so he may play nearly the whole game.

I don't think he will be nearly enough to win CU the game so they will also have to be hitting from outside. Like MU by double digits. Every night usually is, but this feels like a really really good Kam Jones spot.

Got it. You were talking about fouls so I assumed you were worried about CU's defense.

I'm sure he'll get some easy buckets but I think we're better suited to guard him this year than in the past, and I think we prevent more mismatches for them than in the past too.

ATL MU Warrior

Pressure the ever-loving crap out of Ashworth.  Don't leave guys wide open at the 3-point line. Let Kalk get his.

This.  Stevie ate Ashworth alive both games last year.  Throw Chase at Neal, and guard the three point line. Do what Hurley did against Purdue last year (Although Kalk is obviously no where as good as Edey was).

Muggsy just told me our pregame this time is breaking into the recently closed Victor's and attempting to fight every single reflection of himself he sees after several rounds of Steel Reserve Dizzy Bat. Will keep everyone updated, Ts & Ps appreciated.

Dizzy Bat is one of nature's treasures and needs to be respected.

Creighton will pack it in.  When we don't turn them over, exercise patience in the h-c.

As far as the unnecessary attacks on Muggsy?  I would tread lightly.  I could activate the DDF faster than a cheetah.  You're quite fortunate to be MU hoops fans.

I'd argue attacking your reflection is totally necessary

What's the vibe on Zugic from Creighton fans? From the little I know, he was hyped as being one of their better players and has been a complete non-factor in the first two games while playing minimal minutes. Maybe they are more patient than us, but I don't think that would go over well here in a similar situation. Hopefully this isn't his breakout game since we should be pretty familiar with the rest of the team. Btw, why is Mason Miller having such a terrible year? Anyway, should be a great crowd tonight and excited for this one.

I think people generally overestimate the quality of the European clubs players like Zugic come from. I remember when we were nervous that UCLAs 7 foot Turk was deemed eligible right before our game last season. He was a non factor and has been meh over two seasons now.  X got a trio of touted transfers from Europe last season and all of them ended up coming off the bench for a bad team by the end of the season. I fell for it this summer when were recruiting Maxi Langenfeld from Germany. I thought he would push for 6th or 7th man minutes here.  He's currently glued to a bench in Boca Raton. I think Zugic may fall into this category

Look how a subsection of MU fans regard Ben Gold.   You will have your answer.

LFG!!!!!  Attack and destroy.  We should be very prepared against their drop coverage.  Play with relentless fury and confidence.  Get everyone involved early and take care of business.

I'd like to see Chase get going early.
