I liked that screen.  And I liked that the refs and Iowa St. embarrassed themselves looking at it for a F-1.  I think Caedin will improve and help us as the season progresses.

94Warrior

I like what he brings, but could do without the 3's in a close game.  I don't  remember him making one all season.

DoctorV

Muggsy you're pretty seashells and balloons tonight, I'm proud of you.

He played 3 minutes, set a perfect screen, and fouled twice.

He's a good body to have, love his ball handling ability and toughness, but he's far and away 3rd on the depth chart at the 5 with Benny and Parham well ahead of him.

Marquette also has a 7 footer coming off a RS year next season.

We heard a ton of positive things about Caedin in the offseason, and he's not good skills, but he's got a lot of work ahead of him

DJO's Jaw

If he can develop into a true rim protector by the end of the year, it would be super valuable to the team. But he really has to figure out how to defend without fouling.

He took a bad 3.  But he's learning.  I just think the potential is there.  And DO and RP have tremendous upside.  Especially when they learn how to defend better.

I think if we're healthy we have all the pieces to be very formidable by March.

I think Gilbert hit the deck ten times harder on his screen flop than when he actually got busted open.

MUfan12

He chose a bad time to take it, but I'm totally fine with him taking a three every now and then. Stroke doesn't look bad at all.

Caedin is a project big.   Physically, Theo John.  But does not have a long history of high level basketball prior to MU.   Just like Josh Clark.   Patience is required.

No one was embarrassed they reviewed that call. It happens all the time.

awesome screen.  Perfect technique.  Very rare in a 1st year player.  Well done young man!

Honesty, when I saw how hard Gilbert went down, I fully expected to see a forearm push in the replay. But no, that was a textbook pick.

I have no idea how much Caedin will progress over the few next years, but he is definitely a player that I hope gets real minutes this year. I will take my chances with projects like Caedin every year. My gut says that he has a chance to become a real impact player, just needs to play.

Shaka has taken 4 projects.  Keeyan, Amadou, Hamilton, Clark.  All are long, athletic, without extensive basketball backgrounds.   If you are going to sign projects, those are the ones to sign.

I think you could consider Oso a project as well.  When Shaka arrived here, Oso had played 5 games, netting 6 points and 6 rebounds.

I don't mind the idea of taking projects, but outside of that screen, Caedin really wasn't ready for a game like that last night. It feels like Parham has already passed him, and Clark might be waiting in the wings next year.

Caedin is capable of contributing in spot mins and I think he will improve.  There are certain situations where I think he'll have to be on the floor.

This is where I'm at. I like his size and potential, but his shot selection (25% of his shots from three where he's 0/5) and defense is still a work in progress. Last night he was very forgettable.

Do we count Gold as a project? If so, he's probably Shaka's best big man project here so far. Keeyan transferred, Amadou hasn't shown much, Hamilton isn't there. Hope we see signs of panning out, but I think it might be time to start putting similar effort into big man recruiting that we do into wings.

He's not there yet.  But he played 2 mins.  I'm hoping we'll see improvement as the season progresses.

With all due respect, we can't just project that Clarke will have passed Caedin by...next year at this time CH will have 40+ high level games under his belt and JC will most likely struggling to find his way.

Trust the process.

As for the 3's...he keeps taking 'em.  And he keeps playing.  Those are system 3's not Caedin 3's.

I think he is going to have to be a rim protector using the lower body more than trying to block shots. He doesn't jump all that well and he's not particularly long-armed. On the other hand, he moves well for a guy that size and, if he gets in front of someone in the lane, that is as far as they are going. I do not see he getting backed down on post-ups. He also has good hands and skills for a project player.
