Jay Wright also dismisses Knicks speculation, despite the Knicks having 3 Nova alums.

Probably a decision that is beneficial for both parties.

Yup. Even if he wanted an NBA job (which he obviously doesn't), deciding to work for Dolan would have been pretty un-Jayish.

Yup. Except I'd upgrade "probably" to "definitely."

Call this the hypothetical coaching carousel or something

An interesting report in the Athletic today where Dan Hurley goes on record saying he seriously considered resigning from his coaching job, to the point where he had discussions with Fox about becoming a TV analyst.

Could be all BS to sell his new book, who knows.

Not as large as the gap between UConn and Marquette

To be fair, the only thing larger than that is the infinite void between willie's ears.

Logistically, is it even possible for the kids to transfer for this first semester? I think if this happens a month ago, the kids may have had time (not a lot, but.. 6-8 weeks even more) to quickly transfer and play elsewhere this year.. now that school is in session, are they kind of SOL except they could plan out a transfer after first semester is over and start playing over xmas break? (I don't even know if Auburn has semesters).

I guess my question is around.. academic requirements -- are these kids unable to meet them like maybe they could have 4, 6 or 8 weeks ago? And so they're kinda 'stuck' due to the timing, which may have been very well planned by the Pearl's and/or the school? #naughty

Looking at Steven Pearl's resume', it is obvious that he is long overdue to get a P5 job. Dad is doing Auburn a solid by beating Kansas to the punch when Self retires.

They can transfer at the end of the semester, but they would not be eligible for competition at their new school (until Darren Heitner sues to allow that). Additionally, with the new roster limits most schools probably don't have room or money left for scholarships.

Pearl has talked about running for the open Senate seat in '26. Strictly my guess but quitting now as coach and working for the university gives him plenty of time to raise millions of $ and get the campaign infrastructure in place.
