My wife and I will be there. Huge arena. Our first visit to the UM campus.

I'll be there with a decent sized group of undergrad buddies, I'm pumped.

Flying in Friday morning, college park all day Friday for the dub, and spending Sat/Sun in DC.

How big is the arena? Haven't looked into much because my buddy from Baltimore organized it all. He did mention prices were pretty steep.

Any DC area recs feel free to share, it's been like 15 years since I've been out there.
Thanks in advance, and can't wait until this turns into a Donald/Wojo thread 😂

Glad that you are bringing in a "decent sized group" of undergrads. We need all the help we can get so that we are heard.

I think the arena has a capacity of about 18,000. And yeah, the prices are steep.

I've mentioned the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum by Dulles a number of times on Scoop and very highly recommend it. Just seeing a space shuttle close up is worth the trip (WOW!), but there are many other planes from early ones to a Concorde that you will be able to see.

I'll be there will a group of 5 sitting in section 110.

We're flying in Friday morning and got an Airbnb in Georgetown. Gonna check in and then make our way to college park around 4. Do we have a pregame spot?

On Saturday we'll be hanging in DC bar hopping and watching football. Anyone have any cool bar reqs around the Georgetown neighborhood? Lastly, looking for a nice Italian spot for dinner Saturday night if anyone can help there

Filomena if you want, and don't mind paying for, an experience.

My wife ate there a few week ago after the Marine Corps Marathon, and absolutely loved it.

My buddy is flying in Friday AM, I'm local...looks like Looney's is the closest bar to the arena about a 10 min walk.

Yup, I've heard Looney's and Bentley's are their college bars. I'll probably check out both of them

For the record we are now 40, but we can still act 20 so there's that.

Air and Space museum sounds solid, thanks.
So does Filomena.

I'll third that.  My family and I visited this past August based on being rec'd here on Scoop.  I'd say it's better than the Mall location.  My whole family loved the visit.

When we went, there was a screen at the space shuttle with someone available to chat with you via zoom about the shuttle. She was probably a retired NASA engineer (just a guess) and was as pleasant as she was informative.

We learned that all of the tiles are one-offs-no two identical-and that getting the shuttle from Dulles to the site required quite a bit of engineering expertise the in construction of a road capable of handling the weight. On one occasion, when a shuttle landed at an alternative location due to weather, the runway started to collapse a bit. The concrete pad for the museum also had to be engineered to handle the immense weights of the Concorde and Blackbird among other aircraft.

Maryland is doing a "red out" tomorrow. I would suggest wearing blue. I usually like to wear gold on the road but since gold is their secondary color I don't think it'll pop as much as blue

Can't wait for tomorrow. Is it confirmed if they sell beer in the stadium?

Championship Blue will probably pop the most.

Looking forward to a nice "We Are Marquette" chant in the final minutes.

I was pretty impressed with the intensity of the crowd last night. I wasn't expecting a Big 10 fanbase with a home football game the following day to be so into a November non con game.

I got the sense that the fans understood that we're a really good team.

They were a little brasher and louder than I expected, but I guess I'm used to the indifference of the Georgetown crowds.

Maryland always has a good crowd for basketball.

They know their hoops. Everyone I talked to was very complimentary of MU and had high praise for Shaka and our history...but one guy thought we were in Indiana and another Peoria. Kinda showed their coastal bias
