Question(s) for those of you who have typically bought the season ticket parking pass...

Got an email the other day as a season ticket holder about purchasing additional game tickets before they go on sale to the general public. They had a link in there about buying parking for the season which I assumed was the yearly parking pass. Figured out it was on a single game basis. Called the MU ticket office to inquire about when/how to purchase the season-long parking pass.

MU ticket office notified me that they are no longer selling a season-long parking pass (as they have in the past) and that the only way to have parking in the lot next to Fiserv now is through an increase to $5k for the Blue & Gold Fund.

Was anyone else aware of this change in parking policy? Did MU communicate this change to any other season ticket holders?

I think Marquette not to have communicated this parking change to season ticket holders, many of whom are elderly and/or have trouble walking longer distances, is terrible. Very disappointed in the MU athletic department.  Now, in addition to paying parking on a per-game basis, we also have to pay additional service fees.

We R Final Four

Not to mention the concessions at the Al.

Every year around this time, I am amazed how people don't seem to understand how supply and demand works.

It's more about the lack of communication but you do you

If "you do you" means pointing out basic economics, I will. Thanks.

Just a weird comment when most of the complaints about the ticket situation have been operational and not about costs.

Sorry you don't understand. I'll type slower next time.

I paid $510.00 last year for the total one time fee for parking.  It was not a pass but was parking tickets for all the games.  I had no idea this was changing until I was going to the site when I got two complimentary tickets and when I then selected parking tickets, I saw the listing of parking tickets for each of the two parking locations called Highland that is the older location where you enter on 6th street and the N 5th street location where you are able to take the walkway right into the Fiserv.  The is my preference and the price was the same.  I then went thru the process for each game and had several warnings that the payer would view this as suspicious.  I indicated it was me doing all these repetitive purchases.  Five seperate attempts and eventually got all the parking tickets.  I goofed one time and got Highland by mistake.  Anyway there is the ticket price for each game and then two added fees.  Total cost was $793 and each ticket range was a low of $39.61 for three low interest games up to a high of $63.79 for two games.  Yes demand and supply.

So basically you are saying that since tickets are in high demand, we should not hold the athletic department accountable for poor customer service, new empty fees that don't go to the program, horrible communication, and a website that doesn't always work properly.  Got it.

LOLOLOLOL.  You think bitching on a message board is "holding the athletic department accountable?"

Yep.  Spreading the word so hopefully more people speak up.  It's mubb STH #metoo moment!

Sorry that I am not sorry that this bothers you.

It doesn't bother me. It's hilarious that you think it will be effective.

Parking was very confusing this year.  In the past, complementary parking was included with a Jockey Club donation ($5,000 last season).  This year to get complementary parking a $10,000 B&G donation was required...so essentially a $5k donation just to get "free" parking.  I was able to get a season pass in the Fiserv garage for $500...plus about $65 in "fees".

Fascinating situation here.  For all the pointless bitching and moaning you do on here about all kinds of topics out of your control, you don't see the irony here?  You are literally complaining about people complaining.

Atleast we are commiserating and hopefully encouraging others to reach out to the athletic department.

Unlike you, I'm not under the illusion that I can hold anyone accountable here.

At the very least we can all be glad we had nothing to do with the Wade statue.

Someone educate me on a couple of points re parking because I really don't know. I don't want a parking pass. I don't need a parking pass. I've never had a parking pass.

1. All of the ramps and flat lots down there are owned either by the City of Milwaukke or by private vendors. Do the Bucks own the new ramps north ofJuneau Avenue across from Fiserv. Does Marquette share in any of the parking revenue on MU game days??

2. If MU sells me season tickets and offers me  parking privileges for a certain cost per game/season, who reaps the benefits financially of my decision to buy parking?? Or is MU's offer of arranging parking merely an added inducement or benefit for my purchase of the BB Tix and MU realizes little or nothing on the deal??.

3. If MU doesn't get a significant amount of money from game day parking, why the he!! don't they just get out of the parking business altogether. If they simply wrote a letter to all sth's in June and advised that for the upcoming season everyone would be on their own in arranging suitable parking based on individual needs, cost, etc, would people respond by dropping their bb tix?? I would say no.

For all the pitching and moaning, is managing everyone's parking needs worth it?

The Hippie Satan of Hyperbole

The Fiserv Forum and the ramp that is attached are owned by the Wisconsin Center District, but operated by the Bucks. The Bucks make lease payments to the district, but I believe they capture all FF revenue except for a small ticket surcharge that goes to the WCD.  This includes the lease with Marquette.

My GUESS is that this lease with MU includes the parking facility, of which Marquette is allowed to capture parking revenue.

I don't think the City itself owns a lot of the garages downtown. I think the WCD owns a couple.
