Sorry guys, haven't posted here since September 3rd... oh my, how things have changed!

First, a quick update from this weekend: played in mixed doubles 4.00-4.33 yesterday. First game started off well.. we were up 6-1 on a 4.5 guy and 4.235 girl. Then, she woke up. Holy crap. She's like 25, played college tennis.. her backhanded twoey was just ridiculous. Had no answer. They rattled off 10 in a row. Yikes. Fun tournament, but we did not play well. Fortunately we wrapped up just before noon and so I got to enjoy a beer and carne asada wrap while watching the Vikings lose.

Next up: Friday at the CT Summer Send Off at Chip's -- 1pm, playing mixed doubles. Really want to medal in this field. Then: Sunday, November 2nd we're playing in an (old) MLP-format tourney.. only 8 teams of 4.. two guys, two gals. Should be super fun -- I think most of the teams we can wax, but there are a couple that will give us some great competition.

BIG NEWS: Shortly after my post in early September, I developed golfer's elbow (from playing pickleball). The journey has been rough.. initially took two weeks off, which was very difficult to do. 4 weeks ago I started the Fiix Elbow program -- it's a PT robot ($600) that does tendon and muscle scrapping, and their program gives you daily exercises to do as well. For weeks 1-4, the exercises have been limited to stretching, but later this week I get to start some (light) strengthening exercises which I'm very excited for.

Most people who do the program have increased pain in weeks 1-4, with relief coming in the last 4 weeks of the 8-week program. Week 2 was a little rough, but I have stayed committed to the program and am looking forward to hopefully feeling much better in a few weeks. #pray

I've lost grip strength and of course my game has suffered. Nonetheless, I've been playing a fair amount, but did switch paddles (from the DBD 14mm to the Ruby 14mm... will consider moving to the Black Opal by Six Zero next month).

Due to the injury, I will probably NOT bring my pickleball gear with me to Chicago (Chiraq) when I'm there for the I4 game, but would love to talk about pickleball in person with anyone who will listen so lmk!

Be well, pb friends!

Praying for a full recovery for you!  Very disappointed you will be load managing (heyo, amiright?) and ducking all the Scooper smoke in Chicago, despite being healthy enough to play now.  I was looking forward to picking up a pickleball paddle for the first and last time in my life (or until I'm 70, whichever comes first) and kicking your a$$.

Wow a tennis player who came from a sport that actually requires athleticism ended up dropping the hammer on pickleball players. Who could have seen this coming.

The stars are descending into the Twin Cities next week. The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) will have their Indoor National Championships next week at Life Time Fitness in Lakeville, MN. Catch the action on Pickleball TV (included with YTTV!).

I'll be playing Wednesday (men's 4.0-4.5 doubles), Thursday (mixed 4.0-4.5 doubles) and Friday (men's singles, if I can still stand) and am looking forward to the electric atmosphere. Lots of shippers coming in from different states and Canada, so will face some unknown competition. I think it may be rough sledding for me at the PPA, but am confident I can do better than #muMbb.

On tap before then: today, singles open play at Life Time Fitness Crosstown; tomorrow, potential rest day; Monday, early AM practice with my PPA teammates at PITM BP; Tuesday, league at night... then it's off to the PPA for the rest of the week.

Injury updates:
The golfer's elbow is at 95% now - physical therapy helped a ton; some mild soreness, but overall it's waaay better. The latest injury has been severe plantar fasciitis. Have been trying different insoles, which do help a lot.. but the pain in the left foot is extreme at times. We will push through, hobbled or not.
