More concerned about what he didn’t say, like have they been working on jump shots

No mid range jumpers. We're screwed.

Chase played the last 6 weeks with a high ankle sprain.   Along with his dislocated shoulder.

Love these longer interviews that allow Shaka to expound on how he arrived at who/what he is. Striving to become the best version of oneself every day is a powerful commitment and a wonderful example for his players. And for all of us (present company included) who frequently come up short in that regard.

Especially when he sounds like one of the chipmunks.

1.5 doesn't sound like that at all, IMO. And after listening at that speed for years, any time I listen to 1x the speakers all just sound drunk.

I always listen to podcasts at 2.0x

That's impressive. I tried to ramp up to that, and can sometimes get by at 1.75, but if I lose focus for even a few seconds I miss too much and have to rewind, so I've settled on 1.5 speed.

I don't know if it's impressive or stupid...but I've gotten used to it. And now, if I listen to a podcast at 1x, I find myself thinking, "Come on...they're messing with me, right?" It's sooooooo slow that it sounds like something must be wrong.

It's actually pretty impressive how they've figured out a way to adjust the tone so that you can speed things up but the voices still sound relatively natural. They don't sound like chipmunks at all any more. I'm guessing it's something akin to auto-tune.

An interesting part of the interview was when Shaka was asked what former MU player (other than D Wade) would he like to add to this year's team, at 53:00.

I thought he'd say either a PG or a big man (maybe Tyler or Oso?!) and would likely go back to the McGuire years. I guess he showed his relative youth by talking about Jae and Jimmy and ultimately picking Jerel. This is when he spoke about the goon mentality that Tower mentioned.

I think it mostly had to do with the goon/toughness thing and also big parts of the program currently.

Jerel is very actively involved with the program. Jae has been back a lot and known toughness.

Jimmy is most nationally known. And while he’s a little sour, he’s still respected no matter what Mr Bias tries to say

I'm a 1.7x guy, myself.   Watching anything with Mrs. Hilltopper at 1x is brutal, like I need to bring up a 2nd screen to watch a second show simultaneous.

I have to admit that I just tried this for the first time on Monday. There's a "reality" show I have been watching on Netflix while I'm on the treadmill. I saw that I could speed it up to 1.5. It's working great for me. I don't think I'd ever do it with fiction (just like I typically don't speed up fiction podcasts), but I'm fine with the sped up reality show.

Yup, I watch everything sped up, 1.7x.   I also keep my finger on the skip-10 seconds button.

Let's goooooooo, the earth is rapidly spinning on its axis, I don't need to see 30 seconds of the main character looking out into the ocean while sad music plays or whatever schlock.

Also works well for the NFL.  Buffer 30 minutes and watch the 9 seconds of a play, skip20, watch a play, skip skip skip.  Let's goooooo.

I do not.  I toss my bag in the aisle to thwart jerkoffs.

Actually, last month I was flying in to Boston and I wasn't quick enough to blockade, and four a-holes jumped the line past me.  I was shocked and wanted to murder them.

Real nice. Thats a pretty true to life Shaka interview.

Loved the vulnerability, the real life circumstance, the morning routine, the executive coach stuff. Great stuff.

As long as he doesn’t jump off the top of Jesu 🫣

In all honesty, makes me wish I could grab a beer with Shaka. What he said about listening to every Saban postgame interview, is true about me wanting to listen to every Shaka interview, and that says a lot about him as a person
