Is this accurate?

Twenty-nine percent of undergraduate students are from Wisconsin and thirty-seven percent come from Illinois.

If you look at "Location" and toggle only undergraduate, it's 36.6% from Wisconsin and 39.5% from Illinois.

We should be getting better at it by now.

This is why LLMs aren't so intimidating. For broad knowledge sets there's just not good data so they're training models on Twitter and Reddit, so they'll turn out to be slightly stupider versions of the existing russian bots.

Porky's Butthole

Porky couldn't give a pig's ears!   Although a proud MU alum, Porky believes MU's most glaring institutional weakness is its complete lack of geographic diversity.   They need far fewer students from WI & IL and far more from everywhere else.   The former provost and current interim president articulated to Porky personally less than a year ago that MU may be a national university but it has an extremely regional student body and increasing geographic diversity was a priority of his.  To his credit, he put some of MU's money where his mouth is and allocated almost $9M to the effort in the last budget cycle.  Hopefully it will pay dividends down the road further and strengthen MU's considerable momentum under Lovell who presumably had to approve and sign off on the allocation for that effort.

lol. Good luck.

Chicago is the most heavily recruited metro area in the country - and it's 80 miles away from campus.

Marquette will be primarily a Wisconsin and Illinois student body for years to come.

Primarily, sure.

But with more diversity? Why not?

Hopefully you're both right.

Because that's not really how college recruiting works at most places. Schools concentrate their efforts where they get their greatest return. My guess is that undergraduate enrollment from WI and IL will be around 70% for a long time.

In searching for a new university president, Marquette has to at least check out PorkysButthole, no?

Porky is flattered, but Porky will be the first to acknowledge Porky is not remotely qualified to run Porky's local trade school or community college, let alone, an outstanding national university like MU.

So the 9 million MU spent was a waste in your opinion.

Yeah I would like to take a look at that $9M to know exactly what it is. My guess it's just repackaged money that had already been budgeted.

They got me from Connecticut, and they barely even had to give me half as much as $9 million.
