Chicago bars for Fri game

I was thinking of the Old Town Pub.  Does anyone know if they still serve as a Marquette bar?

My friends went there once when I was out of town. Said they didn't have sound on. That said they probably would for a sweet 16. Commonwealth and Leavitt inn are both solid options. Here in forest park 3 different bars have been trying to vie for the alumni network around the near west burbs and far west side. Funny that only one of them was interested a month ago.

Commonwealth and Levitt Inn as Galway said.

Both are good and will have the sound on.

I checked out their website, and they advertise it as the home for ND Football.

Doubt they'll have a conflict this weekend.

That’s nice. I assume sound on?
MU flags? Pom poms?

My sister lives out there and I need a spot for the game on Friday.

I’ve got a wedding on Saturday and I’ll likely be flying out to Dallas on Sunday morning if Marquette wins Friday night.

They are not taking dinner reservations and cancelled the band for the evening because of the game.  Safe to say the bar will be taken over and you will not be disappointed.

Don’t take my word for it, email I received today.  Bring your own pon poms and face paint……

——————————————-

Fellow Warriors!

Let's make Good Friday a GREAT Friday! Let's DANCE some more...the Shaka jump-and-pump, the Kolek euro-step, the Osso-sweet stop-and-pop. Grab your partner. Grab your gear. Grab your MU pride. Let's grab a W and a spot in the Elite 8!!  Boom-Shaka-laka!

Marquette vs NC.St., Friday, 6pm at Peggy Kinnane's

Thanks to Stacey and Tim for cancelling the band. Not taking any dinner reservations. We own the place! Bring the hunger...and your thirst. Spread the word.

Go Shaka! Go Warriors!! WE ARE MARQUETTE!!!

P.S. - Warning... When we Win on Friday, we will play on Easter Sunday at a time to be determined, probably late afternoon. (Hope the Jesuits have a direct line upstairs) Peggy's will be closing at 2pm on Sunday so their hard-working staff can enjoy Easter with their families. Enjoy yours.
BUT WE'LL BE BACK AT PEGGY'S FOR OUR FINAL FOUR GAME ON SAT, APRIL 6!!

Why?  They have a passionate alumni and fanbase.  Any business run remotely competently would never turn away such business.  This isn’t Mazos Burgers

Let’s try to get all of us in one spot on Friday- Peggy’s seems like a good candidate, since they canceled their band and all

It is kinda funny. Commonwealth was packed with only MU fans on Sunday. The TV I was watching had a framed DWade jersey and MU banner on one side of the TV and a ND banner on the other side. Classic and unnerving.

They're a Kansas bar too, which also gets under my skin.

Hate to disparage any establishment that pushes Marquette pride, but Peggy’s seems slight in quality TV setup via online search.
Emmett’s seems similar.

I’ve been to commonwealth, I think, and it was decent but not great.

I’ll just go wherever the bigger Marquette crowd it, and it sounds like Peggy’s is being aggressive with it.

A place like Davidsons in Homer Glen has a much nicer setup though

I’ve been to Peggy’s and there are a ton of alums from 70s and 80s, and the environment is awesome.  I guarantee it will be a great crowd.  If you feel you don’t have a good view, there are plenty of other bars around the area to watch.

Above all enjoy the game.

Official game watching sites for all states and assorted other gegraphies.  For Chicago it’s Commonwealth, Gideon Welles, Peggy’s, Grandpa’s in Glenview and O’Sullivan’s. Milwaukee area has a bunch of sites.

Glad to be there with another scooper on Sunday, even if a different part of the bar.

While known as a UW bar, Will's Northwoods Inn embraces all things Wisconsin and has always been a big Marquette bar. I have been there for many games. Tons of TVs, sound on and curds aplenty.

Seconded, they don't advertise it but they'll support MU. Not a great place to go for the MU vs WI game though

They used to set us up in the back room even for MU-UW, but yes, wasnt an ideal place depending on outcome. But the cheese curds are pretty good for Chicago, and is a solid option overall.

I was there for the WI game this year and I’d say it was actually 60-40 MU fans. Still wasn’t a fun day

But yes Will’s is probably the best place in the city to watch mubb this weekend

I guess I was going to Wills during the Wojo years when Dekker and Kaminsky were rolling so it was definitely more WI forward than MU forward.

Was at Schoolyard for a tourney game during the Buzz years. It was the 2012 opening round game against BYU.

Was sitting at the bar with a buddy and was shocked to see Wes Matthews Jr. walk in with some family.

Turned out the Trailblazers were into town to play the Bulls the following night and he wanted to watch the game at a Marquette bar. He actually ended up sitting next to me. Chatted with him for a few minutes but mostly left him alone. Was a nice dude and was very cool to all of the fans at the bar.

Forgot about toons but that's been around for a minute may as well include Lange's then, don't know how much longer they last with it not being a destination bar stretch anymore.

Haven't been to butchers tap, I'll check it out.

I started going to Wills after the watching the Lopez debacle at Four Shawdows in 2008. It was was 2nd straight loss watching there, at the time was a solid MU bar.

Then stopped going to Wills after the Florida loss in 2012.

Schoolyard was always safe.

They had either an ownership or management change.  The folks that used to run it back then run and/or own Commonwealth now, hence the MU bar.

Wills is a great bar. As Swoopem alluded to, him and I lived down the street from Wills in the immediate post college years. Great place to spend countless hours on a barstool and not really worry about the entry level jobs we were working. It's a cheers type atmosphere with regulars in there, and they have outstanding bartenders who value the craft of mindless conversation. They have always been friendly to MUBB fans and usually have the game on with sound. As i've gotten older i've noticed the place is a total young bro sausage fest after 10 pm. I was probably a part of that category when i was younger, i like to do my drinking before the street lights come on now.

I lived up Racine about a block away back in '14/'15. Watching battered badger fans walk out of the place after the national title game was entertaining.

RIP Bobby Hull, his red wine and sexual harassment. But I do agree a friend (and her mom) both bartended there for years and another friend bounced and bar backed there for years. They have a great trivia night and it was unreal to watch the bucks championship there.

Great bar!   The owner is from Limerick - very friendly.  Just opened in November.  Used to be The Nil Tap.    Really like it!   One of the bartenders is from a town north of Galway.

Will's is going to be a madhouse, if that is what you are trying to avoid.

Would prefer one of the two of those however.  No easy choices.

After digesting that disgusting loss, I am happy that $5 20oz miller lite's at commonwealth happened. This is the best news I have to report from Friday. No point in commenting in other threads and dog piling on what we already know. Ring out and love is real, not fadeaway.
