WRA didn't play Monteverde last season. Looks like WRA's four games in the tournament were Newman School (MA) in round one (84-76), Mt. Zion Prep (MD) in round two (78-58), New Hampton School (NH) in the semifinal (96-92), and Putnam Science Academy (CT) in the finals (76-63). Monteverde played in a different tournament. It looks like, for the most part, WRA plays in different circles than Monteverde (and the rest of the Nike EYBL).

Competing tournaments.

All due respect to WRA and our two great freshmen, I think the level of competition in the tournament won by WRA is not nearly as high as the level of competition that Monteverde faced last year. That Monteverde team had five top 25 recruits.

Having a fair amount of experience in the high level club volleyball world, I learned early that not all "national championships" are created equal. Not even close.

Woah are you insinuating that Crown College's National Christian College Athletic Association D2 natty isn't on par with UConn's?!

Seriously though thanks for the insight. Makes a bit more sense, seemed like 2 guys leading a National championship prep squad would've been ranked considerably higher but now it explains it.

How Marquette's Chase Ross learned to play basketball like a pass-intercepting free safety

When the Marquette men's basketball team clinched the outright Big East title with a win at Butler on Feb. 28, 2023, the NFL combine was also going on in Indianapolis.
Through a mutual connection in mental-skills trainer Russ Rausch, Golden Eagles head coach Shaka Smart shared a meal with then-Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and other top NFL minds. Rausch mentioned that MU player Chase Ross, who grew up in Texas, is a rabid Cowboys fan.
Quinn was taken to meet Ross, and the NFL coach eyed up the MU player's 6-foot-5, well-sculpted frame like Ross was a draft prospect.
"He said whenever I get done playing basketball, I could go play DB for him," Ross said.
