I bet brew or TAMU would know but I wonder if there are less buy game opportunities for some of these schools and they have to full their schedule this way

Right. This is their version of a "buy game." And they don't care about any negative scheduling consequences because these programs know the only way they get to the NCAAs is by winning their conference tournament.

It just seems much more prevalent than it used to be. Or maybe I just didn't see it until Lenny's Tap stepped up to sponsor such a valuable service!

Right … it’s a “ buy game “ … and a win.

But when Clark’s Summit or Paul Quinn needs a buy game who do they schedule?

The St Anthony 7th grade boys B team ? ?

D3 schools don't schedule buy games because the crowds aren't big enough to cut a check.

I think this is it. Many of these teams are almost exclusively playing road games in non-con because that's where they make their money, and paying another D1 to come in would be far more expensive (and risky) than paying the D3 down the street.

They aren't playing for seeding or a bid, it's just giving their fans wins (hopefully) to cheer for at home while building the bank account on the road.

Defense optional at the Cintas tonight.
Xavier trails Oakland 49-48 with about 17 minutes left in the game.

Defensive clinic being put on by Madison.
They lead Western Illinois 35-19 at half.

UConn up 10 late in the 1st half vs. New Hampshire.
VIOLENCE!

Northern Illinois plays Northwestern tonight.

NIU is 5-1 on the year after blasting DePaul. Their lone loss was obviously to Marquette on opening night so that game might be one to have interest in.
