Quote from: Hards Alumni on January 03, 2025, 08:07:08 AMThat depends.  If someone wants his services as a starter he will be back, otherwise he will retire "despite strong interest from several teams".

For his post-NFL interests, it's best no one brings him in and he can blame cancel culture and start a podcast where he asks questions

Quote from: Uncle Rico on January 03, 2025, 07:47:06 AMI wonder how long he'll milk the off-season, will he or won't he?  Since he doesn't like the media attention, I suspect he'll make an announcement shortly after the season ends

I have to think he will have to show interest pretty quickly so his options don't dry up. After this year, hes not automatically better than a lot of team's starter or other free agents.

My guess is if #8 gets his 500th TD he will close up shop.

Was embarrassing for a player of #8 stature to quit on the team last week

I am speculating that there may be mutual interest with Titans if the decision is to return.

#8 has two TD passes today. 500 and 501 , that should enable him to call it quits after this season

5 short of Favre? I don't know about that

Yeah, I'm sure he sees Peyton Manning winning a Super Bowl as a shell of himself. I think he might play until he physically can't or someone doesn't want to make him their starter Week 1.

Titans seem to be high on #8s interest list

I can't believe he'd go out quietly and not do another self aggrandizing final season, but that exchange with Pam Oliver yesterday definitely felt like "this is it" sort of vibe for anyone other than him.

Ya no way he doesn't come back to break Favres record. Being "better" than Favre was like 75% of his personality until he started going into dark caves.

BM1090

If he can find a team (Tennessee?) that will allow him to come mentor a QB for 1-2 years and run things his way, I'm sure he'll be back.

Might not be the worst fit. You can deal with the circus if he's actually willing to mentor.

Bump.  Maybe wrong about the cut ties (more like cut Achilles), but coming to fruition.

It's amazing to me a story about Rodgers plans for next year leak on Super Bowl Sunday. This guy just cannot catch a break from the media.

Jets moving on.  Another good decision for a team not known for them.

Or when Watson is out for the year and they need a bridge QB

FWIW, I think this is the first time in about 10 years that there is value to extract from Rodgers.  Its not going to take huge money or a long term commitment to take flier on him, and after the injury and how things went in NY, his personal motivations (to prove everyone wrong about him on the field and in the locker room) likely align with a team's goals again. I think he has enough in the tank to still be better than, idk, 10-12 team's QB situation or a bridge to a younger guy, and I think he's going to be as close to a model citizen as he's capable of being.

Rodgers will always want things his way.  There's zero chance he just goes into some new organization and "fits in."  He's a 41 year old who has looked like he can't move since tearing his achilles.  He had really good receivers and a really good defense and the team went 5-12 and he stunk.  I wouldn't touch him, but I'm also not the Vikings.

cheebs09

I could see Titans or Raiders wanting him to bridge a QB. I don't think he would want to go to Brady's team though.

TSmith34, Inc.

I agree with wades, Rodgers isn't going to change in order to fit in. He is who he is, and really he has no incentive to change at this point.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Uncle Rico

The idea Aaron Rodgers is going to change for an organization?

What magical fantasy world is this going to happen?

I don't think he has to change per se. He's thin-skinned and is going to be out to prove everyone wrong that he's washed and a bad teammate. For teams in the short term or bridge QB market, I could see that working out - like a watered down version of when the Packers got MVP-level production mostly out of spite after they drafted Love.

Edit: MVP-level, not NFL-level - headslap
