Opening weekend of NCAA location question

If MU is at Columbus or Des Moines, preferably, I'd like to road trip for a game.  For anyone who can predict these outcomes (i.e., locations for 1st/2nd round games), what variables should I be watching over the next 13 days?  As it stands, there is a 25% chance they'd be in Ohio or Iowa. :)

Book a cancelable hotel in both locations now, worry about it later :)

+1.  No harm in having bookings made you can cancel later.

Just know the NCAA have hold blocks on rooms that will be released once the brackets are released.  Teams are assigned to host hotels by seeding.

Ill be down in Pompano Beach, Fl for the first two rounds. Im hoping they go there although I don't see that happening

Was in Pompano Beach for MU's entire NCAA championship run in '77 Maybe you should just stay.  ;)

If MU gets a 3 seed, there's a very good chance it's gonna be Columbus (see Cracked Sidewalks breakdown of that linked above).

Which location do people PREFER?

For me, Des Moines (I've only said that 20 times).

It's not a bad town at all, by any means.  It's no Milwaukee, but you can find lots to do there.  I heard Columbus is decent too.

Des Moines makes most sense, due to location.  For Chicago and for that matter, Milwaukee, and Mpls, it's an easy peasy drive.  If I'm not mistaken, that's our 3 largest alumni bases.

Family connections would take me to Des Moines if they somehow sneak in there. Booked the room today.

Columbus
I visited for work recently and I had no idea what to expect and it was much more interesting than expected.  German Village and The Brewery District with the brick roads.  Walked around by the capitol building and 2 blocks from the capitol I found intriguing that they tore down a mall and built a New England Style Green and named it Columbus Commons.

Yeah, that area is nice, a food market close by. I like wolfs ridge brewing. Pins Mechanical is an upscale Kozs.
Parlay Sporting Club is a good sports bar with nice staff, though turns into a nightclub at night..

I went to OSU after MU and stayed.  Columbus has grown tremendously over the last 25 years.  The Downtown and near downtown area really had nothing when I moved here...but since Nationwide Arena opened it spurned development from downtown to OSU Campus.  Now all three pro-sports have stadiums in the area and it continues to grow.

Yeah Columbus is one of the few Northern/ Midwest/Rust belt cities that is really growing & building....companies have headed there....people with money have headed there....young, highly educated Ohioans flock there.

Cool city....would think that location could pull in many MU alums in Ohio, Michigan, PA, Indiana....and not too far a drive from Chicago and Milwaukee.

Columbus is doable, but a bit more of a haul from Chicago and Milwaukee.

Do we have to call it The Columbus?

Sounds like a great town.
