I envisage something akin to the famous dancing scene by Elaine on Seinfeld.

I hope our Florida Scoopers are saving the Iguanas.  Terribly sad.

Or at least applying a decent rub on them and putting them on the rotisserie.

If manatee is available in the stores, it is so much better than iguana. Iguana is a "poor man's" manatee.

Manatees have the same disposition as Newfoundlands. They are a protected species and have rights.

They're invasive species.  Kill 'em and grill 'em.

edit:  Seems like my posts are also an invasive species.

I realize that...but it's still extremely sad.

How is it sad?  They are a reptile version of nuisance rodents in Florida.  They destroy infrastructure, eat endangered snails and insects that otherwise have limited natural predators, and have negative effects on numerous specific plant species.  They are also relatively intelligent reptiles so they are even more problematic and clever in their destruction.

I'm a huge animal supporter and conservationist, but there is literally nothing good about iguanas in Florida.  Its the same for Lionfish.  Lionfish are absolutely GORGEOUS magnificent fish, loved and admired throughout both marine biology and the aquarium hobby.  But they are also invasive to the Florida coastal waters and absolutely WRECK the natural ecosystem so I'm fully in support of people harpooning them by the kilo.

Ya.....I understand.  But I still like iguanas.

Geckos are invasive in Hawaii but are beloved.

If Iguanas helped us save money on insurance, they would be beloved too.

And they have that same annoying nasal accent that Orange Jesus has. Everyone loves the gecko's accent.

Muggs, I respect your wealth of animal knowledge and concern, but this isn't actually true.  Geckos are non-native, but not invasive.  Much like pheasants in the US, or other non-native game birds.

There are no other native lizards in Hawaii, so geckos have been great for pest control and also known as commensal animals, which means they live seamlessly and harmlessly in the same exact space as people.

My good friend's parents moved to Maui a decade ago.  Had a big bug problem the first few months.  Asked the landscaper/gardener who managed their neighborhood for advice, and he goes "you guys don't have any geckos?"  They were puzzled and said no.  He laughed and said "I'll sort it" and transplanted a few from nearby in the neighborhood who quickly took up residence around the house/patio/balconies.  Bug problem was sorted in a few weeks.
