Advice on babies at Fiserv

My daughter and SIL are using my tix on February 4th.  They have a not quite 2 year old son and a 6 month old daughter.  I assume the baby can get in without a ticket.  Can the lad sit on a lap as well?

Sir Lawrence...  Maybe you can be a great dad and babysit for the kids, let them have a good time not having to worry about the babies.  Or if you can't babysit , offer to pay for a sitter ! ! !

I have done this multiple times with my two kids when they were about that age.  We squeezed into two seats.  It really depends on how wiggly they are...if you can stand having them on your lap for two hours, more power to you.

I believe you're supposed to have a ticket for those over 2, but I have a friend who regularly brings his now 3-yeard-old all the time and just keeps her on his lap.  I don't think they check ages of you say you're lapping them.

They should be fine, but they're brave souls for bringing them to a sellout. My almost 2 year old came with me to the UConn game and it was a good thing we had some room for him to move around.

We were initially targeting the GTown game for our 2 year olds first game, but got sick. We did the MU/Providence Women's game and would definitely do that again. Can walk around and good views of Iggy, which is her priority.

I'd say thats just not a great game to bring a 6 month or a 2 year old. Bringing them to a game with plenty of room to move is great, but if the two year old is one of the screamer/squirmiers they are going to greatly annoy the people next to you.

You can definitely bring them. A few pieces of advice...

• There are multiple family restrooms with changing tables. Definitely worth knowing where the closest ones are and using those.
  
• Consider noise cancelling headphones. NMD is going to be loud, and it might be easier for the kids if you can effectively turn down the volume for them.
  
• 6 months is an easy age, just baby-wear or hold them close, but 2 is much tougher. There's a family area on the East side of the building, around section 117, that has a Bango sculpture, sign-making (aka coloring) area, and some other family friendly stuff. Head there when the toddler gets antsy and doesn't want to stay in anyone's lap.
  
• Accept beforehand that you will likely miss large stretches of the game. I brought my 4-year-old to Georgetown and she made it through the first half, then we spent all of halftime and the first 10 minutes of the second half coloring signs. They won't have the same attention span you do, so recognize you won't be able to dedicate your own viewing to the game as much as you normally would.
  
• Consider what else you might bring to amuse them. Maybe load a few episodes of Cocomelon or something similar on your phone.

Can't say what the policy is now .. but we brought our sons to games all the time, no ticket, sitting on our laps.

Probably did it until about age 4 .. but we got babysitters for "big" games.

Brew nailed it. In the kids area, get there early. The balloon guy and face tattoo lines are in strong demand...and Iggy is there early.

That said, the kids won't be an issue normally as there is a lot of action for short attention spans. A pregame nap is a must.

Thanks everyone.  Appreciate the feedback. The reason I'm not babysitting for them is because good friends invited me and Mrs. Sir Lawrence to sit court side, freeing up my seats.  As to the rest, Grumpa doesn't need to worry about what the parents will certainly be dealing with.  Apologies to my regular seat mates.

Expert advice - buy tickets in the nosebleeds and get the kid a seat. Might have some space for him to run between seats. And will be close to big open concourses.

Extra tip - get a pair of ear protectors for the kid. It's not especially loud, but does help the kid from learning some colorful words.

As someone with children that fit that description well past their 2nd birthday, my experience is they are annoying enough to buy their own seat so I can enjoy the damn game
