If you are going to the BET you might not get in.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2023/01/16/facial-recognition-mom-kicked-out-rcmh-n2618277

I'd read your article but it's behind a pay wall that says "we need your support to fight the left and the liberal media".

Just a tip since I know you've posted your concerns about media bias in the past... if a source isn't openly saying that they are there to"fight" one side of the political spectrum, it's probably a biased source

Here's an article not behind a paywall. Sounds like a private company doing something legal but incredibly petty. Thought the mom comparing it to Elon Musks behavior on Twitter to be apt.  I hope those kicked out were at least refunded.

Here is a better source. It's ridiculous, but not surprising, what Dolan is doing.

Look at the bright side. Hurley and Miller will be denied entry during the BET. And probably most UCONN fans as well.

Ah yes, apologize for it behind a paywall. I just thought the policy of using facial recognition at least for me is rather creepy whether by the government or a private enterprise. There is no denying that Townhall is a conservative source and not take everything they report as gospel. In fact there are virtually no news sources that are completely neutral. Thanks for the other links.

They've talked about this for several months on WFAN.  Apparently Dolan is pretty petty and wants to keep people out of MSG who heavily criticize him.

Gang, facial recognition software is a blessing. Clear uses it at airports to identify travelers. On average, I get through MCO security in about six minutes because of it. Even EWR, most of the time, is about 10 minutes.

If it is used properly, it should save time and energy getting into a stadium.

Clear is available in many stadiums/arenas now, including MSG.

Guess MSG wasn't using facial recognition in March of '21.

Ewing kept getting stopped by the staff and asked for ID.

There was a story a about a law firm representing a client suing MSG for some reason.  One of the attorneys had Knicks season tickets for like the last 45 years.  He showed up for a game and wasn't allowed in and was told facial recognition flagged him. Apparently all the attorneys involved with the same lawsuit were also banned.

That’s the rationale used by repressive governments/police states everywhere.

That was actually where I finished my registration/got my picture taken.  Amusing that every time I go through at an airport, a picture of me with a queue of people behind me outside shows up

Just be glad that they do not use driver's license photos. The DMV people who take those get a kick out of making everyone look awful.

The only worse photos would be those taken by morticians to show off their work.

INS uses it as well. It's a little weird being able to get back into the country without showing my physical passport.

Yea being able to just take a picture at the kiosk and be done is amazing from a speed and efficiency standpoint, but a bit unnerving from a "wow they really do have so much info on us" perspective.

Why is this any different than scanning the code on your passport?

Because with the passport code you are physically presenting the passport for scanning.  If they can link you from a photo like that at a kiosk, they can easily pull up and track/identify you from any number of cameras you pass daily.  Thats the difference.

I'm not some paranoid "Big Brother is watching, be afraid" sort of person, but from time to time certain things make you pause and go "huh"

If they already have your passport photo, they can do that anyway
