The sad thing is that we all joke about this.

No one is even a bit surprised when cops act this way.

I’m no scientist but perhaps it was in LPD’s best interest to quietly drop the charges.

I’d say the Louisville PD is overrun with bad apples.  Might be time for replanting

The struggle with mental health is real.  I wasn’t a fan but his post-Sony speech (just saw it yesterday) was revealing.  Guy had fought a lot of demons, between depression and alcohol.  The combination is awful.  It’s a daily battle and not something that ever just disappears.

When you see a family member or friend struggling from these very real issues of depression, be understanding and kind and check up on them.

one of the most sensitive and accurate statements you've ever made here on scoop!  bravo! and I mean this sincerely uncle Rico!

I have had too many situations such as this and they are as destructive on the loved ones left behind except they have to live thru them, trying to make sense out of them and then carry on.  when children are involved-no words

US Women’s Open is being held this week at Lancaster Country Club.  They hosted the Open in 2015.  The course was designed by William Flynn, who also designed Shinnecock, Cherry Hills and Merion.  He also redesigned The Country Club at Brookline.

Should be a fun week on a classic course.  Nelly Korda is the overwhelming favorite.

Grayson purged all pictures of his fiancé from Instagram. According to media reports, the two of them  were supposed to get married on April 27 and it obviously didn't happen. Seems like per comments from Grayson she was a big part of helping him deal with his various demons.  Parents did not mention her in their statement as among those who loved Grayson. So wondering if this was a heart break situation compounded by all the other things. Everything about this is sad.

Lexi announces her retirement, effective the end of this US Open.  Boomers will now have to ogle another young American golfer.

Made the US Open at age of 12 and before Lydia Ko, was the youngest ever winner on the LPGA.

11 career LPGA wins, including the 2014 Kraft Nabisco.  Often in contention at majors, her putting was often a horror show.  Hadn’t won since 2014.

Probably the most overrated golfer on the ladies circuit of the last 15 years.  She never ascended to number one in the world, getting as high as number 4.  Loose with the rules, too.

Struggled with self image due to body shaming.   I hope she can find peace and happiness.

The Grayson situation really is a terrible thing. Mental illness is real, and we all have to watch out for each other and keep an eye open for warning signs. Too many people hide their depression, but it looks like he had a very strong family around him. Obviously as Herm mentioned, there may things that we will never know which caused this to happen. Prayers to his family.

Yup.  She had to take time off, in 2019, I believe.  Female athletes have to deal with this across all sports.  Too often, appearance is more important than accomplishment.

A fascinating juxtaposition between this and the current article on golf digest about what Nellie owes to the sport.

A fascinating juxtaposition between this and the current article on golf digest about what Nellie owes to the sport.

Nelly doesn’t owe the sport anything, however, I can see why the LPGA would probably like her to be more engaging with media.  Her play has certainly spoken for itself this year.  The LPGA would love to capitalize on that but needs her help in doing so.

Golf has always been an insular sport.  I think back to Shane Ryan’s “Slaying The Tiger” book when he highlighted the up and coming players of the post-Tiger era in 2014.  What he got from players and their reps was golf speak, corporate jargon and platitudes for the most part.  They were vanilla.  Rickie Fowler was the “X-sports” athlete of the tour and gave nothing.

These players are insulated by their agents to the point that access is nil.  If you’re lucky, you get thoughtful players like Spieth, Tiger, Rory, Rahm and Brooks or obnoxious players like FIGJAM and Sergio or bizarro players like Bryson.  Either way, none of them are very approachable outside pressers which limits getting to really know them.

That’s why it’s laughable when Saudi golfers talk about “growing the game”

Caitlin Clark is only mediocre on the court, but she’s  such a beauty she fills arenas everywhere.
