Not much more to say about this game. Incredible game by everyone. Amazing defense, great shot selection, incredible ball movement, played aggressively but under control. Just unreal.

I’m trying to remember having seen a more complete beatdown of a high-quality opponent, and it’s hard to recall one. Amazing.

Apparently in 1971, but I was in diapers so I’ll have to take their word for it

The last time it felt like that was the comeback against #1 Villanova.

I thought the same, but that was really the last 10 minutes or so, not a whole half.

Most complete games since Marquette’s first big East game against UConn

Then MU WADE vs Kentucky

The first half was a clinic. Best performance since DWade against Kentucky

I was at the win vs Miami that put us in the Elite Eight in 2013 -- we dominated a top-5 team from start to finish. But I think we only won that one by a dozen or so. This was incredible.

SECOND HALF VERSUS BAYLOR

I'm not sure if you were joking or not, but in its own way the second half was almost as impressive as the first. To not have any kind of letdown and to win by the same margin we had at halftime, even though Baylor started throwing in some long 3s ... again, wow!

Nope wasn’t joking.
Same thoughts as you, impressed there wasn’t a massive letdown even though Baylor had some streaky stretches.

56 years of watching MU basketball - probably the best half I’ve ever seen us play. That includes 2003 against Kentucky, 2013 against Miami and several near perfect halves in the 70’s. Largest margin of victory vs a top 10 team since the 1971 team that finished 28-1. We’re nowhere nearly that good, but the future is bright.

We made shots, and that always makes a team look better, but just the energy and the will and the defensive intensity tonight were sky-high. And unlike shooting, those are something that a team really can control. If we bring this kind of play every game, or even close to it, who knows how good this season can be?

I was thinking Kansas Thanksgiving….idk without looking 5-7 years ago. But then we played the 2nd half.

I don't recall them ever getting within 20. They would hit two or three shots, feel like they were starting a run, then we'd hit back and the lead would be back to 25+. Never felt remotely threatened. The second was really impressive.
When asked how he felt about Marquette being picked to finish ninth in the Big East, Tyler Kolek only had two words:
.
"F**k 'em."

They got it to 18 briefly in the first half before we pushed it back to 26.

Nothing under 20 in the second half. I think 21 was the lowest.

It was a great well-balanced win even getting out-rebounded.   The team did not let down.  Substitutions were spot on to give guys a rest and brongbispn a fresh set of legs.   Relentless on all fronts. And that’s what it takes to beat good teams.   Hope the teams keeps it up and brings it every game.  Wow! Yowsa!

And they weren't missing to start the 2nd half either.  We just matched everything they threw at us to start the 2nd half. Absolutely monstrous performance.
VIOLENCE!
