Kam, Norman, and Lowery can all play the 3 in a 3-guard set.

The Sultan

Kolek - 30
K Jones - 30
Mitchell - 22
S Jones - 20
Ross - 17
Norman - 10
Lowery - 10
Ellis - 0 (transfer)

Elonsmusk

The great thing is that the freshman won't have to be immediate contributors. I suspect Lowery won't play much Year 1 and Tre Norman probably gets some spot minutes based on the reports about his game.

But, guards game and our depth and development will be an asset to the program going forward. Villanova model.

Goose

Sean Jones will play more than 20 mpg next season, possibly this season. The kid is the real deal.

He most certainly is.  But so are Kolek and Kam.  I could see Jones taking a couple minutes from both though.

Shaka will run someone off, so they'll be fine

Rico

Shaka stacked a team with guards and good ones. Picking the 4-5 best and building around that is the plan I would take next season. He will need to pick guys to keep next season. The good thing, lot of options on who the 4-5 right guys will be.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

One or two will transfer out.  Maybe even someone we least expect.

PointWarrior

Can Shaka fuse two of them together to get a legit big man?

I thought I'd never see as good an on ball defender as a freshman as Dom. I think I have.

We'll play them each around 17.2 mpg.

Consistently force overtime & there will be more minutes available.

Sean Jones might be even better than Dom on the D side of the court. I love defense and he is fun to watch. Actually, I think the D this year has been very good and believe it will continue to improve all season.

MUfan12

Sean and Stevie have to be hell to play against. There were a few times last night that Stevie jumped the pass, missed it, but still recovered to square up on his man.

Chase, Zaide, and Tre all fit the mold. He just needs a couple of those guys to hit a damn shot consistently.

We are one over the scholarship limit, so it very likely one of them will be gone. I th8ink it will be the one that losses his starting job to S. Jones at some point into this season.

Wonder where Ellis' mind is at. Trying to read him (verbal & nonverbal) he looks happy to be part of the team. Just don't know how bad the injury will affect him going forward, or what his thoughts are on 2023-24 roster construction.

Shaka is really high on EE the person.  Said he's grown a ton and never really had great stability in his life, and that EE loves the family nature of the MU program.  I don't think EE would want to leave, nor that Shaka would encourage him to leave.

Next year could be a logjam at guard position for sure, but in 2024-2025 some time will open up with Kolek's departure.

I think Ellis if he is around plays the 3 in a three guard set too. He looks 6'6" -6'7". He is taller than Joplin.

Might run 4 guard sets too.

pbiflyer

Chase can play the 3 with his hops too in a three guard set.

rgoode57

The bottom line is that one current player will not be with us next year - two if Shaka wants to add a big via transfer. There is not a current player who has a chance of getting drafted (including Oso and Omax) so that means one or two have to transfer.

Ellis would seem likely, but I agree that, given Shaka's comments about him, it will be entirely his choice. And, Ellis may be able to play the 3. Since we have seen so little of him, we really have no idea what his potential is. Ross also looks like he can play the 3 if he can shoot consistently.
