The Georgetown T Shirt, etc.  It is another overlegislated rule by a hypocritical organization out of touch with the times whose rule origin was racially based. This should be sunshined.

The t-shirt rule was not racially based. In 1981-82 Patrick Ewing wore a gray t-shirt while getting over a cold, and he stuck with it. Towards the end of the next season, Nike sent over some t-shirts with their logo on the sleeve and that's when the NCAA blew the whistle.

T-shirts are legal if they are the same color and do not interfere with the jersey as a whole. But in 2022, they're out of style and college kids don't see the need.

Remember the Evansville t-shirt jersey?

Thank you for the clarification. The whole "racially based" accusation was crazy. It was the NBA that didn't allow them underneath but eventually relented. The main uniform restrictions the NCAA has involves colors and size and the number of manufacturer logos.

As for T's, on the men's side, yes, they are rare. However, they are very popular in women's hoops. What I don't understand is the players who wear full sleeves in games (e.g. Jordan King from MU women, Addye-Wusu from St. John's, Chris Paul did this a few times when he was with the Clippers).

See Rupp, Adolph.

And if folks don't think the push back on the Georgetown starter jackets, Kente cloth or the gray t shirts weren't John Thompson's statement, you are being naive.

Come on, the tshirts were banned (later the rule was amended) because of a Nike logo?  When shoes and jersey's had them as the schools cashed in?  A Patrick Ewing head cold?

I like the ones we currently have more than what they first looked like on the spirit shop website, but the last two sets of uniforms we've had are still the two of the three worst we've had in my lifetime (03-07 being the worst).

A modernized version of 71-74 would be incredible.  Modernized versions of 68-73 or 81-83 would be great as well.  Modernized versions of 2011, 73-76, 93-94, or 01-03 would be solid as well.

https://wiki.muscoop.com/doku.php/the_marquette_jersey_project/start

2011 is Way too recent plus 11-14 was a modernized version already and 08-14 was essentially a modernized version of 71-74 blues.

I'd be all about a modernized version of the others though.

A) let me know when the NCAA banned Starter jackets and Gtown’s unis. And, B) t-shirts weren’t banned, they just couldn’t have logos on them. They also had to match the color of the jersey. Chris Mullin had to follow the same rule at St. John’s.So racist.

But yeah, you’d know more than a Gtown fan.

For a lover of the NCAA, your history isn't very good. Nor is your understanding of institutional racism.

There were games last year that Kolek wore a t-shirt under his jersey. Pretty sure Omax wears an under armor type shirt also

This is always a good reminder of what Thompson’s teams put up with
