I assumed you'd have recommended the injera from Buraka.

Also, I have had the momos at Little Tibet.  All of their food is fantastic, and the jhol beef momos are the best.

I never got to go to Little Tibet but have now heard from several sources that it's excellent. 

There is a little Thai joint a bit off the beaten path on the Eastside.  I think it's Thai Sala or Sala Thai?  Excellent Massamun Curry there.

Sala Thai is good, as is Sa-Bai Thong... but I prefer Hot N Spicy...  located in the back of the Viet Hoa market on Monona drive, the 'kitchen' is smaller than my dorm room at OD in 2000.  Be careful with the spice level if you're not initiated to thai spicy levels.

I have to agree. Elminating/reducing grains has made a difference.  However, some sliced roast beef with raw horseradish on freedom bread is awesome.

I'm not going to claim best bread in the world status, but I made homemade flour tortillas last night for the first time and was really happy how they turned out. I need some practice making circles, but other than that they were better than tortillas I can get in stores around here.

Navajo fry bread. Can be either a sandwich or a dessert.

If you are ever in Denver, eat at Tocabe. Get the shredded bison stuffed frybread, with an order of Bison Chops (comes with a side of frybread, and jelly). Amazing.

As for bread, a real French baguette makes for a great sandwich; some soft cheese, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. So simple and so so good.  I’m normally a no salt, no sweetener,  lightly processed, whole grain bread eater, but make an exception for a solid French baguette - when in France.

I’m not into the Italian baguettes, to brittle and crust is too thick. Definitely can’t make an edible sandwich using one.

I used this recipe; it was pretty easy. I was a little surprised by the solid coconut oil, but it worked really well. I'd be curious to try lard sometime just to see how they turn out. I didn't use a tortilla press...just rolled them out on the counter with a rolling pin. Also, the person who wrote the recipe likes them thick. I doubled the recipe and ended up with probably nearly four dozen tortillas. I was making them thinner and smaller as I got better at it. I think if you want smaller taco-sized tortillas you could probably get 18-24 from a single batch. You could probably get a dozen 8" tortillas from a batch.
