Joe Lunardi has Washington State as the 1st Team Out and Marquette as the 2nd Team Out in his current 2023 Bracketology.

A practice against K-State should move is up 2-3 seed lines.

Lunardi really has nothing else to do when he'd doing Bracketology for 2023 when most rosters aren't even finalized.

A bracketology this time of year is even dumber than the way-to-early top 25's.

The Thing

I'm thinking both Wisconsin and Marquette find their way in. If Justin comes back Marquette is a lock.

PointWarrior

Can we start discussing potential second and third round matchups too - that is fun.

Absolutely.

In fact, if he comes back, me's thinks we finally break the forever never winning streak.

With Justin, OMax and Kam, we may be a second weekend team.

If UW-Mad makes it to the NCAA, then Greg Gard is truly one of the best coaches in the game.

I said that last year. I saw potentially in Johnny Davis but never expected him to transform into a possible lottery pick. Very un-Wisconsinlike development. Will be interesting to see if they return to their bread and butter or if they have another hidden star who will get the Markus Howard treatment.

Four of their starting positions seem set in Hepburn, Klesmit, Wahl, and Crowl. That's a fine starting 4 but does seem to be missing a star player to make it go. Maybe Hepburn takes on that role? Not sure who their 5th starter will be. Jahcobi Neath (1.6 points per game last season)? Kamari McGee (great FR year at UWGB...but it's UWBG)? Chris Hodges (former top 150 recruit who redshirted last season)? Connor Essegian (#229 rated FR)? Jordan Davis (if his brother can make the jump why not him?)? No obvious choices there. Gard's done better than I expected, will be interesting to see what he pulls out of his butt this season.

I don't think so. They return three guys that started almost every game (33 starts for Hepburn & Crowl, 32 for Wahl) and those are 3 of their top-5 scorers. And while I don't expect Max Klesmit or Kamari McGee to be plug-and-play versions of Johnny Davis or Brad Davison, they did both start a lot of games for lower level programs. Further, if anyone has a knack for turning former middling recruits like Ben Carlson, Matthew Mors, or Chris Hodges into at least contributing level players, it's Wisconsin. I think their floor is probably in that bubbly 11-seed to high NIT range, but if a couple guys overachieve they could easily be looking at a safe single-digit seed.

Not sure if I'm missing your point but Carlson and Mors transferr...I mean lost their love of basketball.

Jeez...both? I knew they lost Bowman, didn't realize they lost those guys too.

Wisconsin always plays solid team defense and does not turn the ball over. You can win a lot of games without a star with this formula.

This is exactly right.  They will likely be able to keep games close by extending possessions and avoiding turnovers.  The key will be to replace the shots that Davis and Davison took.  Plus, both of those guys got to the FT line quite a bit.  That's a huge hole to fill, offensively, and it may take a portion of season to figure it out.

Potrykus has an article up about next season's WI team. I found this a stretch and wonder what he's basing this comment off of. Perhaps the 40% he shot as a frosh (2-5 lol).
QuoteJordan Davis is a better shooter than he showed last season when he hit just 8 of 28 three-pointers.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

The consensus from Badger fans seems to be that Jordan Davis or Illver will be their 5th starter. That probably doesn't bode well for them
