All Her Fault on Peacock. smh

Felt like I needed to use Peacock for something other than bball.

Binged the Owen Wilson/Apple+ series Stick on my flights home from Asia.  I feel like it got NO buzz or promo.  Every new Apple+ show gets pinged to me on social media or pops up on my Apple TV home screen except for this one.  Which is odd cause its a pretty big cast...Wilson, Timothy Olyphant, Marc Maron (who i think its a smug old tool of a "comedian" these days but I rather like as an comedic actor).  But its a fun show with Wilson as a washed up former top PGA star, really fast, easy, and amusing watch.  Looking forward to season 2.

Quote from: Billy Hoyle on December 03, 2025, 07:38:11 AMthe wife is gone on a work trip so I've been watching America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys. I had no idea what a complete dick Aikman became and how he tried to undermine Switzer. Getting into the good stuff now.

Thanks for this. I stopped watching after the Walker trade stuff because I didn't want to spend too much time hearing how wonderful the Cowboys were. I didn't know about the Aikman-Switzer thing, so I'll be sure to check it out.

Quote from: MuggsyB on December 01, 2025, 07:51:50 PMAmong the young actors/actresses that get a lot of publicity, the one that stands out to me is Julia Garner.  She's truly outstanding and incredibly versatile.  I think she's in that super rare category of an actor that can easily navigate all genres.

She's really good. As Better Call Saul was progressing, I really wanted Rhea Seehorn to win an Emmy for her work on that show. But when she lost to Garner I couldn't find any fault with that decision - she was absolutely fantastic as Ruth. (I've never seen White Lotus...so I can't really offer an opinion on whether Seehorn should have beat Coolidge). I hope Seehorn gets an Emmy for Pluribus.

Skip forward to episode 4, where the relationship between Jerrah and Jimmy starts to deteriorate, and then we hear about the White House.

Seehorn ABSOLUTELY should have beaten Coolidge.

Coolidge really annoys me. Viscerally. So, you'll get no argument from me.

Totally agree. I love White Lotus, I do not love Coolidge or her schtick.

Quote from: MuggsyB on December 01, 2025, 10:05:48 PMI just started Ozark.  It's sort of a version of Breaking Bad.  She completely steals every scene she is in.  You can tell immediately she's insanely good because she is the character. Her story is also rather remarkable. She couldn't read until she was 10 and had serious epilepsy.  Anyway, I think it's quite obvious that she's on a different level.

You're going to love her in Weapons.

If you haven't watched it, you should.

Has anyone watched The Chair Company?  It's an absolutely crazy and hilarious show, but you probably have to be a Tim Robinson fan to enjoy it.

I had no idea she won an award.  I literally never heard of her until I started Ozark over TG.  But my nephew told me she's has gotten a lot of publicity for a number of roles.

Actually, she won 3 Emmys for her work in Ozark - 2019, 2020, and 2022.

It's always amazing to me how well actors are able to nail accents that aren't their natural accent.  Garner in Ozarks, Idris Alba in The Wire, and I've been watching Love and Death that was an HBO show from a couple years ago that just got to Netflix and Elizabeth Olsen does a Southern accent.

And then it's weird to see them in a show or movie in which they can use their normal accent. Wait? Didn't she just spend 4 years talking American?

As a House fan, it was surprising to hear Hugh Laurie's normal voice.

Thanks for the rec, guys. We really enjoyed Task. Ruffalo and Pelphrey were fantastic, and Emilia Jones (previously seen in Coda), was great as Maeve. Even the child actors were believable. I hope it wins some awards; they'd be well-deserved.

Now just awaiting The Pitt season 2 in January!

Just finished blowing through Malice on Amazon Prime.  David Duchovny is good and Jack Whitehall surprisingly effective as a sociopath villain.  Didn't love the plot and thought it ended a bit lame, but it was an entertaining watch and compelling.

Fox News? Newsmax? Otherwise can't think of much that was far worse.

Edit: In WW11, three spies in the British Army-a Welshman, a Scotsman, and an Englishman- were captured by the Germans, and the POW camp Commandant informed them that of course as spies, they would be executed by firing squad. Rations were in very short supply, so he offered them something in lieu of a last meal.

"I have an extensive collection of records-over 1500 in all-of every type of music imaginable I love playing my records over the loudspeakers throughout the day. Tell me what you would like to hear before you are executed tomorrow morning, and I will be happy to play it for you".

The Welshman spoke first. "Do you have anything by the Welsh National Men's Chorale? I would love hearing them sing robustly in my native language."

"Why yes, as a matter of fact I do have a recording of them. I will play it for you."

He then turned to the Scotsman. "Your wish Sir?"

The Scotsman replied, "If you have a recording of Scotland the Brave by the National Bagpipers Association, I would LOVE hearing that."

"I DO have that! I will also be happy to play that for you."

He then turned to the Englishman. "And you Sir? Your request?"

Without a moment's hesitation, the Englishman replied "I'd like to be shot first".
