You calling Rhaenyra a liar??

I'm saying her boys look handsome, wise, and Strong.

And that words are wind.

Absolutely hilarious when (SPOILER) Corlys gets riled up when he finds out Daemon killed his brother but when Rhaenys tells him why he basically like “yeah, that makes sense”.

Netflix launched new subscription tiers.

IIRC, before, the cheapest tier was 480p, no thank you.  I think the next tier up was 1080p, for $16/month.

Now there's a $10/month tier for 720p.   I just downgraded and saved $72/year.

Seven hundred and twenty P's are plenty for me.

I watched the documentary Netflix has out on the 2015 Nepal earthquake. I thought it was really well done. Insane the level of devastation it caused.

The final season of the entertaining Dead To Me airs on Netflix on Nov. 17. It was delayed 5 months after Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

From the NYT:

When Christina Applegate looks back, she can recognize the signs. Filming a dance sequence during the first season of the Netflix wine-mom dramedy “Dead to Me,” she found herself off balance. Later, her tennis game began to falter. At the time, Applegate, an actress with an aversion to special pleading, didn’t make excuses. She had to work harder, she told herself. She had to try again.

“I wish I had paid attention,” she said during a recent video call from her home in Los Angeles. “But who was I to know?”

Over several years, the tingling and numbness in her extremities grew worse. And in the summer of 2021, on set for the third and final season of “Dead to Me,” she received a diagnosis. She had multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that disrupts communication between the brain and body. Production shut down for about five months as she began treatment.

“There was the sense of, ‘Well, let’s get her some medicine so she can get better,’” Applegate, 50, recalled. “And there is no better. But it was good for me. I needed to process my loss of my life, my loss of that part of me. So I needed that time.”

“Although it’s not like I came on the other side of it, like, ‘Woohoo, I’m totally fine,’” she added. “Acceptance? No. I’m never going to accept this. I’m pissed.”

This was on a recent morning. Applegate was sitting up in bed — her happy place, where she watches reality television. (“That’s my meditation,” she said.) She had pulled her hair into a scrappy bun. Black glasses sat astride her nose. And her resting face did have a certain indignant quality.

But she wanted to do this interview, because the last season of “Dead to Me” arrives on Netflix later this month, on Nov. 17.

“This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am,” she said. “I put on 40 pounds; I can’t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that.”

In truth, her illness is nearly invisible onscreen — a feat of savvy blocking and Applegate’s talent and resolve.

Thanks for this, just downgraded my 20/month to $10.  Just not a lot of content I’ve been on watching Netflix lately, and for the shows I, the kiddo and wife do watch, 720 is fine

The Banshees of Inisherin has gotten pretty good reviews.  You can't beat those film locations if nothing else.

Just finished Derry Girls. Good ending. Actually wished it was a longer episode considering the subject matter.

We're 3 episodes into The Patient on Hulu, with Steve Carell again showing his chops as a serious actor.

It's super weird ... but weirdly engrossing.

The Patient is quite good, beginning to end.

That was really cool.  I especially liked the 3-D maps and drone shots that give a great sense of scale.  Was really interesting where Everest is compared to Kathmandu, and where Everest basecamp is compared to the path up the mountain.

It's not creepy like a horror movie, though.  It's about a troubled but somewhat normal guy who kills people who are mean to him.

Great show.

But that's the first time I ever heard a serial killer described as a fairly normal guy.

Agreed.  It was very cool to see how widespread the destruction was.

The Inside Man on Netflix is good.  I briefly glanced at the plot but I'd watch a remake of Gigli if it had Stanley Tucci in a starring role, so it was a no brainer.  He's excellent and David Tennent is great as well.  Kind of a trite concept but its well written and acted enough to make it interesting.

Pennyworth on HBOMax is so good.  I watched the first episode during COVID, totally forgot about it, restarted it with my wife a bit ago as the 3rd season was released in early October on HBOMax (first 2 seasons were on EPIX which nobody has).  Cool alternative universe in 60s London.  Great character performances despite no star power in the billing.  Paloma Faith steals most of her scenes.  Ive always loved her as a musical artist, but she's absolutely brilliant in an acting role.

I just saw that Brad Dourif is still doing the Chucky voice?   What an amazing career this guy has had.  Phenomenal actor even though he sorta moved mostly to the horror genre.

Golden Globe, BAFTA, Oscar nomination. Parts in possibly both greatest movie AND greatest TV show ever.

Pretty amazing career.

Mythic Quest is back for a 3rd season on Apple TV. A. It quirky, but we love it.

FYI: Apple TV doesn’t go deep, but focuses on quality, not quantity. I end up watching more on that platform than the others. Just finished a couple of Tom Hanks movies and Severance.

But I don’t watch a lot. I’m kind of tired of NetFlix and the lack of quality. I don’t have a lot of time to test the waters and watch some garbage that gets thrown out there because it was cheap to produce.
